This is not another walking tour. These small group tours whisk you off the beaten path by private tuktuk and offer unlimited beer and soda while you and your English speaking guide watch the city pass by. You will eat where the locals eat at small, family-run businesses and try the best local food at places you can’t find on your own. After 3-4 hours, you will finish at local bar to try some rice wine or beer with the locals!

There are a million reasons Chengdu is an international food destination. It’s a UNESCO city of gastronomy. It’s the most popular Chinese cuisine in China. It has the highest per-capita ratio of restaurants in all of China. And at the same time, visitors know very little about food in Chengdu. Travel by tuktuk and encounter spots you could never find on your own for a mix of street food, sit-down restaurants, and family-run joints: Chengdu Street Crepes: This classic local street food comes in one of 4 flavor profiles: sweet, salty, spicy, and strange at a street-stall-turned-shop. Sichuan-style Wontons: Learn why locals call them “Chaoshou,” at a family restaurant where they’re made to order. All the Noodles: Originally served on the street by men who carried the ingredients around on bamboo poles, Dandan noodles are possibly the OG hawker dish. Classic Sichuan Dishes: Sample local delicacies like Mapo Tofu (there’s plenty of not-so-spicy dishes here too).
Chengdu
End the night trying house-made plum wine in a 70s-80s themed bar that captures a unique turning point in China’s history. The bar is a 10 minute walk to the nearest subway station.

5.00A fantastic experience trying the best food from around Chengdu! Took you to some amazing places you never would have gone without the tour. Chris was an amazing tour guide and made the experience great for the whole group. Would highly recommend to anyone travelling to Chengdu!
Full day authentic Chengdu Panda and food tour

5.00Great tour with authentic food throughout and a Monica was a great guide. We did the full day Panda visit, fly restaurant, tea house, and evening food tour. Having a guide take us around the Panda research center was necessary because the center is huge and if you don't speak Chinese, knowing where to go and which route to take saves times and ensure you see the highlights. The fly restaurant and the tea house where authentic local places that we wouldn't have found on our own. The evening food tour was made quite fun with the tuk tuk and the food variety and flavor was excellent.
Still thinking about how good the food was. Service was fantastic

5.00Fiona went above and beyond to educate us, accommodate everyone’s needs, asked the right questions to make sure we were cared for perfectly. She even stayed overtime to teach us maj, give us advice on travel, educated us on Chinese culture, helped us order at the bar even though the tour ended, and ensured we had a safe ride home. She treated us like family. We learned so much from this tour and got experiences we wouldn’t have otherwise.

5.00Monica was a great guide and host. She was friendly and knowledgeable. We travelled around Chengdu in tuk tuks visiting some really interesting places. We samled foo thanks for d and venues we would have never found on our own. Thanks Monica for a great night.

5.00We had a fabulous tour with Iris our guide. Secret local destinations which we wouldn't have found otherwise. Plenty of food and unlimited drinks. Generous with any choice of beers. Included Baijiu and plum wine. Would definitely recommend

5.00This was a fantastic experience. Our first food tour and it was so good we will do tours like this again, ideally with Lost Plate. The food choices were excellent options and plentiful. My husband is vegetarian and this was catered for without fuss. And we got plenty to drink. Iris our host was really informative and engaging. And she got the group we were with in good spirits.

5.00We had a fantastic experience with Lost Plate in Chengdu. Our guide, Claire, was an absolute delight whose enthusiasm was infectious. She shared helpful, interesting information about each dish, and all of the stops were thoughtfully organized. It was a perfect sample of a cuisine that was largely new-to-us. Plus, the TukTuk rides were a total blast and provided a unique way of seeing Chengdu. I highly recommend this tour for those interested in immersing themselves in Chengdu's food culture and learning more about the city. Thank you, Claire!
