In a few minutes we’ll cross over the Oregon Inlet. This waterway unites the Pamlico Sound with the Atlantic Ocean. And speaking of storms, it didn’t exist until 1846, when a huge hurricane hit! A ship called the Oregon was in Pamlico Sound during that storm. As the story goes, the Oregon was sailing back to Edenton, North Carolina from Bermuda. It was right next to the Outer Banks when the hurricane hit. The rough, stormy seas lifted the entire ship up… and deposited it safely on a sandbar! Talk about luck! Perfect for Road trip to Ocracoke Island

4.00The voice guided tour was perfect to listen to as we made the drive to Ocracoke Island. It was nice to learn more about the history of the area as we traveled south. Stopping at the light houses along the way made for nice breaks in the driving.

5.00Very very educational, loved every minute of it. We stopped and walked the areas and then the tour would start up again. It ended at the ferry so we took the ferry. Awesome experience.

5.00The App started as we came into each new area. We appreciated the explanations of what was available in the area, the history and legends, advice on activities that we hadn't heard of. It really enriched our time tremendously. We highly recommend this.

3.00When the program worked, it was excellent. The voice was clear and gave lots of interesting information. However, we had to stop for a one lane delay for about 15 minutes and it didn't work again until we were able to get lucky. I know I missed several because coming back I got some new ones I hadn't heard before. Then I tried to switch from the SOUTH one I took and move to the NORTH one but it would let me without the password. I had the password at the hotel on my computer. I came back for that and it didn't help. Then I called and got a nice person with an Indian accent who said I only had one direction for $15. That was a surprise so I just looked again and at the initial information can't find anything that says I bought one direction. The only reason I put #3 for this review is that the information given is so good. But I had planned to do the North route this afternoon and now, it is way to late and I have to leave tomorrow.
