This tour offers a unique opportunity to experience the awe-inspiring presence of Devils Tower, a geological marvel unlike any other. Unlike typical mountain peaks, Devils Tower is a towering butte, possibly formed from a laccolith – a mass of cooled, solidified magma. This means you'll be witnessing a rare formation of igneous rock carved by the relentless forces of nature. Standing a staggering 1,267 feet above the Belle Fourche River, and 867 feet from summit to base, the sheer scale of Devils Tower is breathtaking. You'll be immersed in the rugged beauty of the Bear Lodge Ranger District within the Black Hills, far from the hustle and bustle, near the charming towns of Hulett and Sundance, Wyoming. This tour isn't just about seeing a rock formation; it's about experiencing the power of geological history and the grandeur of the American West.

Devils Tower National Monument
This narrated tour starts at your hotel in Rapid City around 8:30 AM. We drive on I-90 past the towns of Sturgis and Spearfish and into Wyoming. We exit the interstate just over the border at Beulah, WY and stop at the Vore Buffalo Jump which is open June 1st through Labor Day. Then we drive up Hwy 101 to the 100+ year old Aladdin General Store to see all the unique items inside. We continue on through Hulett, WY to Devil’s Tower National Park. This monument was featured in the movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” starring Richard Dreyfuss. There is a small visitor center, restrooms, and a 55 minute walk around the base of the tower. We stop for you to buy your lunch wherever you are hungry. There is a gift shop and snack shop just outside the park entrance as well as restaurants elsewhere. Afterward we drive back to Rapid City for a total trip of approximately 8 hours.

5.00Scott was a fabulous guide and a wealth of knowledge about the Lokota and the history of the Civil War. He is a great driver and the Van used a Chrysler Town and country was very comfortable and the air conditioning was great. This vehicle was immaculately clean. We did three tours with Affordable Adventures and this company is way above the bar for the price for each tour we took. Scott provided snacks and water for each tour. The Devils Tower is a must see, just make sure you leave early to avoid waiting to enter the park. We walked around the entire tower and saw two bald eagles upon entering the park and a lot of little prairie dogs too. This was a wonderful tour and we cannot thank Scott (Our Guide , Anne (Owner) and Stephanie for their help in making this unforgettable trip a reality. Folks reading this take this trip just magnificent to see and experience.

5.00We did a fully customized tour with Ann. Combined items from a couple of tours into one that was perfect for our family. The tour company was so accommodating and flexible…something that other tour companies would NOT do. Devils Tower was incredible. We loved the hike around the base. We had a terrific lunch at 77 Steakhouse and then had some fun touring Deadwood. Lead and Spearfish Canyon were the last stops on our tour of over 275 miles traveled in one day. The views and waterfalls in Spearfish Canyon were a highlight for sure. Ann was SO informative and has strong historical ties to the area. The information she shared with us was the cherry on top! If you have an opportunity to tour with her grab it! She is amazing.
