  If you are considering a food tour in Kathmandu and Deepak is your guide, stop looking and book it. As a family of three spanning three generations, an 11-year-old, a 35-year-old and a 65-year-old, we often find that guided tours naturally cater more to one age group than another. Deepak was the rare guide who connected effortlessly with all of us. By the end of the tour, it felt less like we were being shown around by a guide and more like we were exploring Kathmandu with a knowledgeable friend who was deeply proud of his city. What sets Deepak apart is his genuine passion for Nepal and its food culture. Every dish came with a story. Every lane had a history. Every stop revealed a little more about the people, traditions and rhythms of Kathmandu. His commentary never felt rehearsed. It was warm, authentic and filled with personal insights that brought the city to life. As travellers, we are adventurous eaters but also mindful of hygiene. Deepak struck the perfect balance. He introduced us to charming local establishments that we would never have discovered on our own, while ensuring every stop met high standards of cleanliness and food safety. We could simply relax and enjoy the experience. The food itself was exceptional. We sampled an incredible variety of traditional Nepali and Newari specialities including crispy Egg Chatamari, comforting Nepali Masala Milk Tea, the deliciously sweet Chaku Yomari, perfectly textured Plain Bara, a soul-warming bowl of Egg Thukpa, refreshing Sugarcane Juice with Lemon, flavourful Chicken Kothay Momo and a wonderfully rich Nepali Sweet Lassi to finish. Every dish felt thoughtfully chosen to showcase a different facet of Nepal's culinary heritage. Yet what made the tour memorable was not just the food. Deepak generously shared stories about local life, architecture, traditions and culture. He pointed out hidden gems, gave practical shopping advice and answered every question with enthusiasm and honesty. His love for Kathmandu is infectious and by the end of the walk we found ourselves seeing the city through his eyes. Many food tours focus on eating. Deepak's tour is about understanding a place through its food, people and stories. It was one of the richest cultural experiences of our Nepal trip and undoubtedly one of its highlights. Thank you, Deepak, for your warmth, knowledge and generosity. We came away with full stomachs, wonderful memories and a much deeper appreciation of Nepal.   My son and I had a great time with Deepak!!!!! It was our first time in Kathmandu and first time with Nepali food. It was truly an amazing experience. The pace was good and the mixtures of flavors was spot on. The culture conversations were fascinating and very informative.

  This food walking tour in Kathmandu was easily one of the highlights of my trip. From start to finish, it was an incredible experience filled with amazing flavors, culture, and hidden gems. A huge thank you to Deepack, who made the entire tour truly special. His knowledge, friendliness, and passion for local food and culture brought every stop to life. He didn’t just guide us—he gave real insight into the stories behind each dish and place. Every single sample we tried was absolutely delicious. I showed up very hungry, thinking I’d just get a taste here and there—but by the end, I was completely full! The portions were generous, and the variety was fantastic. What made this tour even more unique is that I would never have found these places on my own. They’re tucked away in small alleys and hidden corners of the city—exactly the kind of authentic spots you’d miss without a local guide. If you have any doubts about the quality or safety of the food, don’t—there’s zero concern there. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly chosen with care. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kathmandu—it’s an absolute must.

  Deepak is such an awesome guide! I’m so stuffed full of delicious food right now :) Had a great time during the tour - he led us all around and outside of the Thamel area where we tried a number of different dishes. He provided so much knowledge and history about the food and Nepal. I had a wonderful time and would recommend to anyone to book!

  We loved our food tour, it provided us a great start to our Nepali food experience ! Deepak was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable with a laid back attitude. He was very friendly and helpful ! The food was delicious , make sure you arrive hungry!!

  Before this food and drink walking tour, I had been on a long trekking tour and was absolutely starving ;D The food and drinks were not only delicious, but also incredibly filling for all of us. We were a group of four, and our guide answered all of our many questions while impressing us with his extensive knowledge of history, culture, and religion. My personal highlight was Pani Puri at a very small and inconspicuous local food stall, where a crispy hollow dough ball was freshly filled right in front of us with a mix of vegetarian ingredients like onions, potatoes, and chickpeas, then topped with a tangy liquid made from coriander, mint, lemon juice, and spices before being served. Anyone who wants to experience authentic Nepalese food culture instead of just eating burgers and pizza should definitely book this tour!

  Honestly, the best experience I could have imagined. It was the perfect way for me as a female solo traveler to dive into the depth of Kathmandu and try the local cuisine at very unique places. Deepak is very knowledgeable not only about the food but history and culture in general, super patient and caring and it was a pleasure to have him as a guide! He even showed me the best places for shopping and shared useful information about traveling in Nepal. The walking food Tour is a must when you are in Kathmandu!

  Great tour with Deepak. So many different flavors and dishes to try. It was a fun way to learn more about Nepali culture through the food, markets, and local streets. I especially appreciated getting to experience authentic spots instead of just tourist restaurants. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kathmandu. Come hungry and ready to explore!
