A must do if you’re in Kandy! Shyama has created truly authentic experience. Starting with a memorable market visit where we purchased fresh ingredients and got see how the locals shop, then onto Shyama’s village and her beautiful outdoor Sri Lankan kitchen. From the wood fired stove to the clay cooking pots we were guided to create a feast of 7 curries and rice! Truly the best food we’ve eaten in the 2 weeks we’ve been in Sri Lanka and a memory we will treasure.

We had a wonderful experience! The market was really interesting and Shyama pointed out lots of interesting fruit and vegetables. We were able to suggest what we would like to make. We then spent a few hours cooking around 8-9 different dishes, all of which were delicious! We were so full afterwards but very happy.

This cooking class was an amazing experience! They were super responsive and fit us in the day of messaging. The experience shopping at the market was amazing, and it was super helpful getting explanations of all the different fruits and vegetables. The set up at the house was beautiful, and it was so special cooking the delicious meals. Couldn’t recommend more highly, worth every cent!

We booked the cooking experience the day before and were contacted that day about the meeting point. We were picked up and driven to the village. Here we cooked 8 different curries. Choosing our own curries to make and how spicy to make them. The chefs were fantastic, they were very helpful and were able to articulate every step extremely well. It was a very enjoyable experience. There is a reason they are the best rated !!

We really liked the authentic tour in the market, so many colors, smells and different fruits and vegetables that are new to us. After that we drove to the village where we made a variety of dishes together, after the workshop we got the recipes to recreate at home, very recommend we had a great day!

We started with a colourful fruit and vegetable market experience, followed by a 20-minute drive to the kitchen with her husband pointing out different fruit trees along the way. I absolutely loved the rustic mud structure where the class was held — it added so much character and authenticity to the experience. Shyama led us through seven easy-to-prepare dishes, involving everyone throughout the class, and later generously shared all of her recipes with us, even the ones we didn’t make. The class has been a highlight of my trip to Sri Lanka so far, and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

My family attended a cooking class that completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and full of positive energy. Shyama was not only incredibly knowledgeable but also patient and engaging, making the entire experience enjoyable for everyone regardless of skill level. What I loved most was how hands-on and interactive the class was. Instead of just watching demonstrations, we were actively involved in preparing each dish step by step. The instructor explained techniques clearly, shared useful cooking tips, and even taught us the reasons behind certain methods, which made the class genuinely educational rather than just entertaining. The menu was well thought out and exciting, and I was surprised by how much I learned in just a few hours. I gained confidence using new ingredients, improving knife skills, and balancing flavors properly. The class was organized perfectly, with the right mix of learning, teamwork, and fun. On top of that, the environment was relaxed and social. Everyone was laughing, asking questions, and enjoying the process together. By the end of the class, we not only had delicious food to enjoy but also new skills and great memories to take home to Maldives 🇲🇻 I would highly recommend this cooking class to anyone interested in food, whether you're a complete beginner or someone who already enjoys cooking. It was educational, inspiring, and genuinely one of the most fun experiences I’ve had in a long time.

Joining the cooking class in Kandy was such a memorable experience! The day began with a vibrant stroll through the local market, where we explored colorful spices, fresh produce, and learned about traditional Sri Lankan ingredients. The real highlight was cooking with fire and using the traditional clay pots . Not only did we learn how to prepare delicious Sri Lankan dishes, but we also got to enjoy them together afterward. It was more than just a class it was a cultural journey filled with flavor, laughter, and warmth. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kandy who wants to experience Sri Lankan cooking in the most genuine way possible!

Didn’t expect to love this as much as I did. We started at the local market picking out fresh ingredients, which already set the tone for how real and hands-on this whole thing was. Then cooked 6–7 traditional Sri Lankan dishes together, all organic, all from scratch. Our wonderful host, Shyama and her family made us feel completely at home. No stiff instructions, just genuine warmth and good energy the whole way through. The food was incredible and knowing you made it yourself makes it hit different. If you’re in Sri Lanka and you skip this, you’re doing it wrong.
