The biggest concentration of wild Asian elephants in the entire world may be found in Sri Lanka’s Minneriya National Park, which is home to a wide variety of species. Nearly 31,000 hectares make up Minneriya National Park.
Nearly 170 bird species and other animals are also found in the area. Jeep safaris are a popular way for visitors to go through the park, increasing their chances of seeing park animals in their natural habitat at twilight.
There are a few parks instead of the Minneriya national park ( Hurulu eco park, Kaudulla national park) and we will guide you to find the best park to see elephants according to the weather conditions.

What To Expect
Minneriya National Park
What is the special about Minneriya National Park? Minneriya National Park | The Ancient Cities, Sri Lanka ... Dominated by the ancient Minneriya Wewa, the park has plenty of scrub, forest and wetlands in its 88.9 sq km to also provide shelter for toque macaques, sambar deer, buffalo, crocodiles and leopards (the latter are very rarely seen, however). There are rarer animals for groups to spot in the park, such as the Sri Lankan leopard and Sri Lankan sloth bear, however both are elusive and more difficult to see. Conditions in the park provide a well-suited habitat for up to 160 bird species, including water birds such as pelicans, storks and herons.

5.00This safari was the highlight of my trip! Our guide Sudath and driver Ananda were so knowledgeable about the elephants and their habitat. Seeing them in the wild roaming free was so special. To watch these majestic creatures frolicking in the lake was phenomenal. I was grinning from ear to ear throughout, what a magical place Sri Lanka is and what a privilege to witness these beautiful creatures in their ancient land ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🇱🇰♥️book this safari asap

5.00We had a fabulous trip with our very knowledgeable guide. He was patient and stopped continuously to point out birds and wildlife. We saw many elephants, some alone, some in groups, and a number of young calves staying very close to their mothers. I highly recommend this tour. Alan

5.00Had a great time at Eco park with Sudath. He arrived on time and kept in contact leading up to the pick up. Got very close to lots of elephants including a relatively newborn one with its mother.

5.00Originally we booked to go to minneriya but asked if we could go to eco park instead as this was known to have more elephants at the time, and the driver was happy to take us there instead. The driver was great at pointing out all of the different animals on the safari, such as elephants, peacocks and different birds. An extra treat was he stopped and got us a king coconut on the way home! One of our favourite activities we have done on this trip. One thing to note is entry to the national park isn’t included in this price so make sure to have cash to pay on arrival. We paid 5000SLR for 2 people.
