2.00Disappointed with the visit. Wasted time and money, dealing with money hungry salesmen and poor customer service. Promising as Duty Free can be claimed for the purchase but not issuing any documents for it. Not registered as Duty Free item dealer in SL Airport Tax Refund Department. Just pay extra and get nothing back. Salesman gives his price by checking whether you are local or foreigner and profit margin is massive if not check all the details carefully. Please do your comparison and homework before you go. No idea the quality and the how genuine are they. Please be aware with the scam over there especially with salesmen. Better bypass and buy elsewhere from genuine jewelry dealers. They have many stores locally and selling in various display places in hotels. Found Certificate issuing for the purchase is just a paper and not a valid document related to the purchased item. Be Aware!!!

5.00We visited the Moonstone Mine and Factory in Meetiyagoda and it was a very interesting experience. During the tour we were shown how moonstones are mined from the ground using traditional methods. It was fascinating to see the deep mining pits and to learn about the hard work involved in finding these beautiful stones. After the mine visit, we went to the factory where the stones are cleaned, cut, and polished. The guide explained the whole process very clearly, from the raw stone to the finished gemstone used in jewellery. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the tour was well organised. At the end there was also a showroom where we could see and buy different moonstone jewellery. Overall, it was an enjoyable and educational visit and a great place to learn about Sri Lanka’s famous moonstones.
