Alfredo was an excellent guide. Trip was flawless. Glow worms were very interesting. The boat ride was the hit of the trip. The geysers on the second half of the trip were also very interesting

The caves were really great and we found the information about the glowworms really interesting. Rotorua itself was not so great since we just drove around the town. We did, however stop at Te Puia, a destination for visitors featuring the Pohutu Geyser impressive as Old Faithful), Maori cultural performances (interesting, but felt a bit touristy), live Kiwi (hard to see in the dark environment), and boiling mud pools. Te Puia is also the home of the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute, and acts as a guardian and developer of the traditional Maori skills of carving and weaving for future generations. It was really interesting seeing what is done and seeing samples of the carving and weaving. The Whakarewarewa geothermal valley extends for generations and the guides have links to Rotorua’s Maori ancestors.
