The architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright has inspired generations of architects, many of whom went on to become legends in their own right. Los Feliz is a fascinating neighborhood, filled with homes designed by some of the most significant architects of the mid-century modern movement. Over 2 hours, you'll hike from one Frank Lloyd Wright house to another and end at the famous Griffith Observatory!
My name is Chris, and I have been an LA guide for over a decade. You may recognize my name from the reviews of my other 5-star tours, like The History and Architecture of Downtown LA. My goal is to create authentic experiences that show people what really makes LA a fascinating city. When you book this tour, you are getting the person that wrote the tour, not just a guide for hire. If you love Frank Lloyd Wright, mid-century modern design, exploring local communities, visiting film locations, or just going for a nice walk, this tour is for you!

Hollyhock House
We start the tour at the birthplace of California Modernism and Frank Lloyd Wright's first ever California project: The Hollyhock House. Generations of architects have been inspired by this revolutionary home that combined Mesoamerican and Babylonian design with a layout that sought to maximize the best elements of the Southern California climate. As we hike into the hills, we will see the progression of California Modernism and the homes made by FLW's disciples like Richard Neutra.
Barnsdall Art Park
Barnsdall Art Park isn't just home to an amazing Frank Lloyd Wright house, it is also an incredibly popular local hangout. DJ nights, wine tastings, architecture talks; there is always something cool happening at Barnsdall Art Park. The vibes are fun and the views are amazing. From the park, you can see the Griffith Observatory, Hollywood Sign, and the incredible homes that we will see during the tour.
If it is a hot day, I will bring extra water. All guests should bring water, sunscreen, and whatever they will need to be out walking for a couple of hours.
We provide the guide and information! You just arrive ready to have fun!
We do NOT go into the Hollyhock House. Tickets are available through the Hollyhock House website and it is a great idea to go inside before we meet for the tour!
