The Ketchikan Photo Safari is a fun, small group 3 hour shore excursion designed for short time travelers who want great photos, engaging history, and a deeper understanding of Alaska.
Traveling with a professional photography guide in a group of just 2–9 guests, you’ll explore Ketchikan’s most scenic and culturally significant locations, including a visit to Potlatch Park. Here, you’ll learn about Southeast Alaska Native culture, traditional totem poles, carving, symbolism, and the stories that connect the land and its people.
While photography is a key part of the experience, you don’t need to be photography focused to enjoy this tour. It’s also perfect for guests who are new to Alaska and want to hear great stories, learn local history, and better understand what they’re seeing. Along the way, your guide shares easy photography tips you can use with any camera or smartphone—tips many guests say improve their photos for the rest of their cruise.

Saint was our guide for the tour and he was superb! He took us to areas that were necessary to gain a better understanding not just of the culture but of the environment. AND along the way he helped us understand how to take better pictures with not just our cameras but with our cell phones! He went out of his way to make sure everyone was helped! We were super satisfied and would highly recommend this tour with Saint.

It was easy to find our tour guide, Saint, at the pier, he was right on time. We felt his tour was a very good value & the perfect way to get a personalized overview of Ketchikan. We were impressed at not just how accommodating Saint was, but his knowledge of the history (loved his stories) & his help with taking better pictures with my cellphone. This was my 3rd time visiting Ketchikan, this tour was my best visit, hands down. Thank you Saint, you're the best!

We really enjoyed our tour with Evie who was friendly and very knowledgeable. It rained the whole time we were out with her but we still managed to see bald eagles and seals. The rain forest lived up to its name but was very colourful. We also visited was a cultural centre where Evie explained about the totems and the long house. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Our photography guide Saint (I hope I spelled his name correct). was an exceptional person giving tips on photography and the location we visited. We lucky to have spotted a Bald Eagle’s Nest and the Bald Eagle itself, also the Potlatch totem Park with the history of the totem poles and the making of. The Creek Street tourist district and the shopping district as well. Overall it was a very satisfying experience.

The tour was nice with a small group- lots of information about the history of Ketchikan. Josh and Elmer (not the right name- sorry!) were very knowledgeable & provided plenty of time for photo ops.
