Sigiriya Lion Rock

Sigiriya The name refers to a site of historical and archaeological significance that is dominated by a massive column of rock nearly 200 meters (660 ft) high. According to the ancient Sri Lankan chronicle the Culavamsa, this site was selected by King Kashyapa (477 – 495 AD) for his new capital. He built his palace on the top of this rock and decorated its sides with colourful frescoes. On a small plateau about halfway up the side of this rock he built a gateway in the form of an enormous lion. The name of this place is derived from this structure — Sīnhāgiri, the Lion Rock (an etymology similar to Sinhapura, the Sanskrit name, the Lion City). The capital and the royal palace was abandoned after the king's death. It was used as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century. Sigiriya today is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. It is one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning

You’ll see many other tourists walking the same path, which is a comforting sign when you’re doing a hike for the first time. The peak is not to be confused with Adam’s peak, which is a little way away and a considerably tougher and longer hike. It gets its name from Adam’s peak because this mountain replicates its shape, in a smaller form. In this ultimate Little Adam’s Peak guide I will go over everything you need to know to hike Adam’s Peak, including where it is, how to get there, what to bring and more.

Jungle Beach

Jungle Beach From Japanese Peace Pagoda If you are visiting the famous Unawatuna site, the Japanese Peace Pagoda, you are in luck. Right down the street from the Buddhist temple is the trail to the best Jungle Beach. I can’t say for certain, but this part seems like the less touristy segment of the beach. You follow the trail past a few guest houses and restaurants, then make your way down a mess of rocks and tree roots until you emerge with a view of a gorgeous sandy beach surrounded by jungle.

Really 5 stars. These people are incredible. My trip with chauffeur Mohammad Fayaz was very comfortable and communication with owner Mr Shiyan very precise and perfect. It will be good if they add more halal restaurants to their knowledge but overall the trip was fabulous. Look no further than Mr Shiyan and his squad .

Amazing 7-Day Tour of Sri Lanka with Rikas and Roy We booked a driver + guide for a 7-day trip across Sri Lanka and couldn’t have been happier with our experience. From the very beginning, from Airport pick up till last day communication with Rikas (Travel Co Ordinator )and Roy (Driver) was seamless — He was fantastic, friendly, never say No attitude ,efficient, and always quick to respond via WhatsApp. His advice was clear and helpful, making the entire planning process stress-free. We had four kids and they were all around Bus making lot of noise and playing around , I must appreciate Rikas and Roy’s patience in bus . They both was incredibly friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make our journey enjoyable. It was raining during our visit, but Rikas offered excellent recommendations for excursions and attractions, helping us craft exciting and varied days that perfectly balanced culture, nature, and relaxation. The Bus was always spotless, comfortable, and ideal for longer drives. We travelled long distance and did not feel uncomfortable or stressful . Roy’s driving was safe and careful, and he was consistently punctual and reliable. His professionalism, combined with his warm personality, made us feel completely at ease throughout the trip. We felt totally safe on roads . Thanks to your organization and your dedication ,we were able to experience the beauty of Sri Lanka without any stress. We wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone looking for a smooth, memorable, and truly personalized travel experience. We had an absolutely amazing time in Sri Lanka, and a huge part of that was thanks to our wonderful driver - Sonal! From the moment he picked us up for our late-night arrival until our final drop-off, he was professional, kind, and incredibly reliable. Traveling as a group of three—including my son and a friend—we always felt safe and well-cared for on the long mountain roads. He handled our busy itinerary from Sigiriya to Nuwara Eliya and down to the coast with total ease. He is more than just a driver; he is a great guide who truly made our holiday special. If you are looking for a stress-free and friendly way to see this beautiful country, we highly recommend booking with him!

  • ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mahesh — Far Beyond Just a Driver

    I964JJjustint,Apr 22, 2026

    - Review from Tripadvisor

    5.00

We hired Mahesh for our honeymoon expecting a driver. What we got was an incredible local guide, photographer, trip planner, and genuine friend who made our entire Sri Lanka experience what it was. From night one, when a flight change left us without a room in Sigiriya and he found us an accommodation to stay within minutes, Mahesh consistently went above and beyond in ways we never expected. He barely touched a map app the entire trip, navigating the whole country from memory for a total of 10 days while pointing out animal sightings, sharing history and culture, and knowing exactly where to stop along the way. A tree full of dozens of birds. Roadside king coconuts and fresh local fruit he picked up just because he thought we’d enjoy them. A restaurant recommendation ready at every location were spot on every single time. His photography and videography skills gave us photos of our honeymoon we’ll treasure forever. He also gave us space to ensure our honeymoon still felt intimate. His calm, warm presence turned the unknown of a foreign country into something that felt immediately welcoming. Mahesh’s experience and genuine care for his clients is unmatched. This trip would not have been the same without him. Book Mahesh. You will not regret it.

  • Excellent Private Driver in Sri Lanka

    - Review from Tripadvisor

We were a group of three visiting Sri Lanka for the first time, and Ishara was the very first person we met upon landing. From the moment he greeted us with a warm smile at the airport, we felt safe and well taken care of. Ishara proved to be an outstanding driver throughout our trip. He was incredibly patient and calm, even when we bombarded him with endless questions — including the silly ones! He answered every single one with a smile and genuine enthusiasm. His friendly and fun personality made the long drives enjoyable as he happily introduced us to Sri Lankan culture, traditions, and hidden gems along the way. Our visit coincided with the Sinhalese New Year, a time when public transport becomes chaotic and unreliable. Having Ishara as our private driver was a lifesaver — it saved us so much time and hassle, allowing us to fully enjoy our holiday without any stress. If you’re visiting Sri Lanka for the first time, I highly recommend booking a private car service and specifically requesting Ishara if possible. He made our journey comfortable, safe, and memorable. Thank you, Ishara!
