What To Expect
BUKIT CINTA (LOVE HILL). Believed by the Tengger tribe as a place where two pairs of lovers, namely Joko Seger and Roro Anteng are referred to as ancestors or the origin of the Tengger tribe who inhabited the Mount Bromo area. This is the most romantic location in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS). If you keep thinking about the person you love while the trip from the viewpoint to this place, the Tengger tribe believes that you will become a life partner with the people you think about.
Luhur Poten Temple
Pura Luhur Poten is a Hindu temple located under the foot of Mount Bromo. This temple is the center of religious activities of the majority Tengger tribe who are Hindu. You can visit this place by walking as far as 200 meters from the car park area.

5.00We had an incredible time on our Mt Bromo sunrise tour. Our tour guide and driver, Hamdan and Mr.Wawan were amazing; so helpful, informative and kind ensuring we had the best time, got amazing pictures, and were able to spend as long as we wanted at each stop on the trip. This is a trip I would encourage everyone to do and l would definitely recommend our guides as we had the best time. We booked a shared tour but it ended up only being us 2, so we had a lovely personalised experience.

1.00I had a terrible experience. I arrived at the designated location for the start of the trip, and the staff informed me that the trip would not take place. At no point was this information provided by the company. This occurred at 10 PM (my trip was supposed to start at 12:30 AM). I had to travel from the city where I am to Malang, and I was in a city I don't know, on a tour that wouldn't happen, and without the agency's contact information. After the shock, I tried to call the agency to clarify what was happening. THEY SIMPLY DON'T HAVE A PHONE NUMBER TO RECEIVE CALLS. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to find someone at the company who called me from their personal number to explain what was happening. They assured me that I would receive a refund for the trip. I am still waiting for this amount to be returned to my account. If I can give my opinion on your trip, DO NOT GO WITH THIS AGENCY.

4.00It was drizzling & foggy when we reach the top stop so didn't managefd to see the sunrise & catch the best view of mt. Bromo. But thanks to our tour lead, Pak Henry & driver Pak Wawan putting good effort to the rest of our stops catching the nice view & suggesting best spots for a photos. Will need to come again during summer season for the best view. Thank you.

5.00Trip with Smartway Indonesia Tours so comfortable. Our guide Zen was incredibly knowledgeable and the hospitality was amazing, If you’re looking for a stress-free trip, the itinerary was perfectly curated—not too rushed, but we saw everything. They took care of every single detail so we could just enjoy the moment and Every documentation looks cinematic and totally Instagram-worthy. I didn’t even have to worry about taking photos because they captured everything beautifully. Good job Smartway!

5.00Another must-go on Java besides Borobudur, Mt. Ijen, and Tumpak Sewu. We booked the trip leaving Malang. What a magically experience. Driving the 4Runner through thick fog/cloud in early morning was pretty crazy but my hats are off to the Smartway driver (I should have asked for his name) who seems to know where he's heading, when I couldn't even see 10-ft ahead. This quick driving moved us to the crater rim pretty quick and get a good nice spot for the sunrise viewing. We were may be a few handful people who started to climb to the Mt. Bromo's rim in the early morning hours. Sandi was our tour guide who helped us to get into a good viewing spot. Very sleeping by the time we got back to the hotel but well worth it! Super happy of booking the trip through Smartway, no hesitation to recommend to anyone who wants to see Mt. Bromo!

4.00Experience: I took the public tour with my mom, so the group was in total 5 people inclusive of the tour guide. The journey is quite tiring, packed with many photo ops. Sadly the Mt Bromo view was covered by clouds but the sunrise is beautiful nonetheless. The crater was probably the most exhausting portion so it is not good for people who have bad knees. In my opinion, the teletubbies hill and savanna can be a little underwhelming compared to the rest of the views. The jeeps are smaller than expected too. Sandi the tour guide was fluent in English and experienced in guiding us to the various spots we visited and the driver Mr Arif is very experienced at driving the jeep and great at giving photo suggestions too haha. Thankful for the both of them in making the tour much easier and enjoyable. A bottle of water, bread and chocolate bar was provided by the tour so there is no need to bring too much food. There is also option of buying hot drinks and cup noodles while waiting for sunrise near the foot of the sunrise point hill. The toilets in the park are all squatting toilet and require a fee of 5000 IDR at the time of writing. Fees: on top of the tour we bought from an external site, we had to pay 225,000 IDR and 50,000 IDR for ticket and fuel surcharge.

4.00This is a fine trip to a remarkable experience at the huge caldera surrounding the Bromo volcano cone. But you need to know what you are getting into. Depending on the time of year, between 200 and over 1000 Toyota 'jeeps' make the trip up the mountain on tour every day. That's fine. But you need to realize what the ride is like. The 'jeeps' are entirely claustrophobic. You are wedged into the back compartment with three other people. You can't see anything except the road surface ahead. The suspension is so stiff that every bump in the EXTREMELY rough road in the caldera thrashes you about the compartment. The first two hours going there are on paved roads and not too bad, but the last hour on dirt roads is very rough. Are you prone to motion sickness in cars? I'd advise you not to go. My friend and I took Gravol/Dramamine and we were ok. But he said that without it he would have been seriously car-sick and vomiting. The problem is that you can't see out the front very well, so your inner ear knows you are moving, but your eyes see the inside of the jeep and think you are stationary. The dissonance between the two inputs to your brain leads to car-sickness. There is no option but to go in these 'jeeps' because every tour company uses the same type vehicle. Worse for me was the claustrophobia. I lasted about a minute in the back of the jeep before I was overcome with panic and said I couldn't stand it. Thank God the guide immediately volunteered to change places and let me sit in the front seat with the driver. I could not have stood six hours enclosed in that rear 'cage' bumping and swaying on the winding road smashed in with three other people. I gave the guide a HUGE tip for his kindness. The sunrise view from the caldera rim and the hike up to the rim of the active Bromo volcano were spectacular and memorable. But you pay a high price to get there if you are either claustrophobic or prone to motion sickness.
