1-Day Bucovina Painted Monasteries tour is a fantastic day tour, where you have the opportunity to admire some of the most unique painted monasteries of Bucovina: “The big four” – The Monastery of Voronet, The Monastery of Humor, The Monastery of Moldovita, and The Monastery of Sucevita; all of them listed as UNESCO world heritage.
Bucovina Painted Monasteries Tour is not only about the monasteries and the spirituality that lingers in these special places. The Tour also introduces you to the bucolic atmosphere of Bucovina with its charming traditional villages, dense forests, spectacular mountain roads, and local craftsmen who preserve ancient traditions.
All this in one single day, going on a distance of 200 km and approximately 8 hours.

What To Expect
Humor Monastery
Humor Monastery is located on the crest of a hill, surrounded by trees and meadows, in the picturesque village named Manastirea Humorului. Placed at the entrance of the exterior wall, there is an inscription carved in rock, where we found out that the Church was built in 1530 by Toader Bubuiog who used to be a chancellor and member of the Moldavian Council.
Manastirea Voronet
The Voronet Monastery is considered by many experts to be the quintessence of the Moldavian architectural style, as it combines both Byzantine elements (the foundation is in the shape of white clover, with a tower right above the nave) and gothic elements (arks and columns). Voronet Monastery is considered to be the "Sistine Chapel of the Orient” for its big fresco on the Western facade, named afterward “Judgment’s Day”. „The Blue of Voronet” is considered unique in the world by specialists, similar to Rubes red or the Veronese green.

The couple of us were on a day trip from Suceava to Braşov and were fortunate to meet a very excellent driver as well as a tour guide Bogdan, who had a rich knowledge of his country and grew a lot of fun to travel. Beautiful landscape along the road, we decided to definitely visit Transylvania and the region of Moldova in the future.

5.00I was treated to a very enjoyable and informative tour of the Bucovina Painted Monasteries by my guide Bogdan of Boutique Romania. Bogdan was waiting for me at our prearranged pickup point in Suceava, and I was treated to a private tour that included the Monastery of Voronet, the Monastery of Humor, the Monastery of Moldovita and the Monastery of Sucevita, as well as a visit to the Marginea ceramic shop, famous for their black pottery. Each was unique in its own way, such as the fortress encircled Monastery of Sucevita with its depiction of the ladder of virtues. Unfortunately, it was somewhat rainy that day, and some of the majestic scenery was lost in the fog, but the monasteries were breathtakingly beautiful and seeing them was definitely a worthwhile endeavor. And the saviour of the day was Bogdan, who was not only a fountain of knowledge, but also an absolutely delightful person with whom to spend the day. I highly recommend this tour from Boutique Romania, and I'm so impressed that I'm looking at other tours they offer along my month-long route through the country.

5.00Fantastic tour. Bogdan was so knowledgeable. It was wonderful to have a guide for the monasteries, but also someone with a PhD in history to tell us about the region, who was born and raised in Suceava. We enjoyed a traditional Romanian lunch as well.

5.00We toured with Ovidiu this August touring the length and breadth of Romania. Ovidiu brought us to know a beautiful nation with enchanting landscapes and interesting cities both from an architectural and gastronomic point of view. Highly recommended the Monasteries of Bucovina UNESCO heritage and the feast of August 15 (Assumption) very attended by Romanians. Trip organized very well and a special praise to Ovidiu and his agency.

5.00We're so glad we chose this tour. The monasteries are stunning - unmissable really - and the Bucovina countryside is beautiful and atmospheric. Our guide Bogdan was highly knowledgeable, able to answer all our questions about Romanian history, culture, politics and connections to other countries in the region. We learned a great deal, far beyond what we expected. The tour was also well-timed - it never felt rushed, nor too slow - and included a lunch break at a local restaurant in the mountains (optional, but recommended). A really enjoyable and enriching experience overall.
Do your homework if you should. The guide is willing and efficient anyway

5.00Our group of 15 joined a one-day tour to the painted churches, purchased transportation from Suceava to Brasov including sightseeing and accommodation arrangments in both cities. Ovidiu provided good advice and communication, and the tour guide was knwoledgeable and accommodating. We enjoy the trips very much. I recommend it unreservedly.

5.00The guide, Bogdan, was very friendly and helpful and gave me a lot of explanations about the monasteries and the history of Romania. He was also a good driver and the car was spacious and comfortable. The monasteries are really worth visiting: don't miss them!
