What To Expect
Kigali
- You will fly into and out of Kigali International Airport Rwanda - Apply for an East Africa Tourist Visa to take you to both Uganda and Rwanda.
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
At 4:00am, From your booked Hotel in Kigali, our Driver will pick you and then drive to Mgahinga Gorilla Park or Bwindi Forest Park depending on Gorilla permit availability for briefing and registration for Gorilla trekking adventure. Later drive to the trekking start point at base of the Park accompanied by armed game rangers, move into the jungle in search of the amazing creatures the mountain gorillas. The trek might take between 2 - 6 hours depending on your trekking ability. After the trek, drive back to your booked Hotel or to Kigali or drop off at the Airport

5.00I really appreciate the extraordinary service that Katona tour provided for my Gorilla trekking in Uganda! Especially for a solo female travel, this is definitely the company you can trust. Daniel is the guide for my trip, he basically takes care of every single piece of the detail and never lets me feel alone. I can totally sense his passion about the beautiful nature of the county where he lives and grows. Daniel is not just a normal tour guy I’ve met for my travel experiences before, he is knowledgeable, talkative, caring and spares no effort to make the guest satisfied. The Gorilla trekking today is also perfect, it takes our group less than 30 mins to find a family of the Gorilla under a nice weather while other groups might be still stuck in the forest. The ranger and the local teams are also professional, they lead us to the Gorilla trail and educate us how to enjoy the creatures without bothering their life. Overall speaking, the whole experience can’t be better and thanks to Katona.

5.00Jackie is a superstar. I bought my permits off her to try do a DIY trip. She was amazing. Always super responsive on emails and very communicative. She also had my permits delivered to where I was staying. She and Katona Tours made it possible. I went to Mgahinga Gorilla National park and saw 8 gorillas and 2 golden monkeys. Thank you Jackie for making this achievable, it was amazing. Need a lift? Hussein, the Bodaboda Kisoro +256 788 974 820 FYI for future attendees: As of July 15th 2025 the gorillas are at the Muhavura gate, not the Ntebeko gate, where the visitor centre is. Seems like they are mostly there the last few years. 28/07/2025 Update: I went to see the Chimpanzees at Kibale National Park. Haven already purchased the gorilla permit, at a later date I decided to take the Chimp permit which Jackie also facilitated. They were amazing- a lot more active than the gorillas. Time was generous. Had a great ranger guiding us, Bosco, who was also in charge of briefing. Loved it. I had Raymond Boda/ guide Port Fortal-Kibale take me there +256 773 736 409. He was very knowledgeable and nice.

5.00Highly recommend using Katona Tours and Travel. Our package was tailor made as we only had 4 full days to see and do as much as possible. Our tour guide Chris was fantastic and highly recommend to use him as your guide! We started off with Gorilla trekking in Uganda which was the most beautiful and spiritual experience. Thereafter we enjoyed some relaxing downtime at Lake Kivu in Rwanda. The scenic drive between the two countries is unreal! Then we did the Golden Monkey trekking in the volcanoes National park which was wonderful and then we got to visit the genocide memorial on the last day. Our package was all inclusive so we never had to worry about food or water. The entire trip was so smooth and Chris made it extra wonderful for us. The locals in both countries are wonderful, friendly and humble and most hospitable too. Thank you and we can't wait to be back in beautiful Uganda and Rwanda again ❤️

5.00Very professional from beginning to end. Smooth interaction via Whatsapp for inquiries, reservation and payment details. Our driver Emmanuel was a joy! He has a wealth of knowledge on flora, fauna and local culture and is a master in traffic. On time and always helpful. Also worth mentioning: a lovely stay at the Trekkers Travern Cottage. Perfectly located for the Bwinidi Park visit. Highly recommended. I hope next time we can stay longer!
