What To Expect
Whisky Village
A unique little village on the banks of the Mekong River. Ban Xang Hai, is also known as whisky village, is famous for their handicraft products like distilling and selling whisky, hand woven fabric and jewelry.
Pak Ou Caves
These two caves are located some 25km from Luang Prabang where the Nam Ou River flows into the Meking. The journey on a slow moving longboat to caves is decidedly picturesque. Motoring upriver you can see locals fishing and listen to the joyful laugher of children splashing in the water. The caves are revered throughout Laos and a very popular place for tourists and pilgrimsalike. There are some 4000 statyes abd statyettes in the caves, mostly of the Buddha, many stukk covered with paper thin gilding. The first cave is reached by a steep staircase from the river’s edge, while the second cave is a little deeper inside the mountain: bring a torchilight!

5.00Very full itinerary. Covers key, beautiful spots. Lunch was surprisingly great - good location, buffet style, good varieties. Very fulfilling day. The guides were friendly. Communication was good too - they contacted me right after I booked.

5.00Started with a pick up from my hotel. We went to see the falls, which are very nice. Lunch (buffet) was at a very good restaurant with surprisingly good food. There were very well behaved elephants that we could feed. Next was the caves and finally a cruise down the Mekong River back to Luang Prabang. A day well spent.

5.00Taking a cruise on the Mekong River is a good activity to discover the wild shores to the caves of Pak Ou and also it allows to take a break on the temple tours that are numerous in and around Luang Prabang. There were only 3 of us on the boat and we had the pleasure of enjoying an excellent meal. Apart from visiting the caves , we also discovered a village with its alcohol production , weaving workshops and an area of small temples dedicated to the local population
