I have nothing but high praises for the Bekker brothers and the high quality service that they provide. From the moment that we were picked up till the moment we were left off 10 days later the two brothers provided fantastic service. We were a group of 5 photographers. Bernhard would make suggestions on exposure, etc and would put us in the best possible position to get great shots. We covered the entire Kruger Park from south to north. Bernhard worked hard to help us with some of our problems. He gave us invaluable information on a multitude of issues especially he helpful with getting photos of birds in flight. Considering on what we got it was extremely affordable with bungalows supplied in all the different rest camps. We did have to supply our own meals but they were very reasonably priced. Most days we were out from 6 am to 6 pm with a short break for lunch. I would have no idea how the brothers could have improved their service for it was perfect in all aspects.

We would like to give Bernhard and Hennie more than 5*, if possible, as they were such wonderful hosts/guides for our special trip. They organised everything for us and nothing was too much trouble for them. Very friendly and engaging guys with a huge amount of knowledge and enthusiasm for the Kruger and its animals/birds. They went above and beyond to make sure we found, and were in prime position for, great photo oportunities. Bernhard is a very talented photographer and was happy to share his expertise with his guests so that they go away with great shots. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Thanks!

We have been on many safaris in Africa, including photographic hosted safaris. However, I do not know how to give the "Bekker Broers" enough thanks for the amazing 14 day adventure all through Kruger that they organised for us. Right after a seamless pickup from Skukuza airport, we were off on our first game drive, even before check-in at the camp. That set the pace for eventful, exciting drives each day. Up early and then off searching for animals, sometimes even until after lunch time. Then a quick break before Bernard and Hennie were ready to take us on another exciting excursion. Their knowledge of the African bush and animals, meant we were the first at many sightings purely because they perfectly anticipated the animal behaviour. Throughout the whole trip Bernard was teaching us so many valuable photography skills. (We both had to get used to new cameras). He is a very patient and insistent teacher. We came away with so many amazing images and the confidence to now shoot fully manual - no more Exposure Priority for us. We took advantage of every possible moment, making it back to camp most times with seconds to spare before they close the gates. Both the guys had so much determination to get us to experience each and every possible sighting. We had so many opportunities to take not just the normal portraits of animals we would expect - nope we now have the images to show for it but also the memories of being one with nature. I can not forget to mention that we always felt safe in their hands. I have an unholy fear of Elephants. Even seeing the biggest elephants in my life in Kruger, I never felt on edge when they came too close for my personal liking :) They were always friendly, on time and we had so much fun - hard not to with guides that are so dedicated but also very funny (maybe a little bit crazy too:) Thanks guys for the best ever trip. We already have our plan going to return on this same safari in 2027.

We have just returned home from an amazing, private 10 day photo safari hosted by Bernard and Hennie, and we are still buzzing! We were picked up at Skukuza airport at 2PM and taken to the nearby camp and then collected again an hour later for our first trip out. It was the same on our last day, picked up at 6AM, photo drive, breakfast and then dropped off at the airport for our trip home. The days in between were just as full-on, yet strangely relaxing at the same time. Kruger Park is a beautiful place. It’s the knowledge shown by Bernard and Hennie that puts the icing on the cake and sets them apart from the others. They know Kruger Park like the backs of their hands. They understand animal behaviour and proved that on many occasions. And if you need help with your camera you will get that too. As well as helpful suggestions for the best settings to use for a particular shot. We’ve used Canon cameras for several years and Bernard, even though he uses Nikon, was able to show us a few things we didn’t know about our own equipment. Hennie is an ace spotter, able to see and identify the smallest of animals in the hardest of locations all while driving too! How he could spot the smallest owl in the park among the foliage of a tree or a mongoose showing its head from a hole in a tree all while driving along at 50kph is beyond me! We stayed 2 nights at Skukuza, 2 nights at Satara, 1 night at Latabe, 2 nights at Lower Sabie and finally the last 2 nights back at Skukuza. All this planned and arranged by Bernard and Hennie, no hassles with booking or checking in. All taken care of. All we had to do was be there. The Cheetahs I so much wanted to photograph were seen the day before at a location. Bernard worked out where they were likely to be and when. We turned a corner and there they were! A trip highlight for me. We ended up seeing 6 Cheetahs during our stay along with Leopards, Lions and cubs, a whole host of birds, Hippos, a Rhino, Hyenas and many, many others too numerous to mention. I can not praise these guys highly enough. Their passion and respect for the park and its wildlife is plain to see and it feels good to know that a little bit of that has rubbed off on us as we sit here reminiscing and planning our next adventure at Kruger Park, with Bernard and Hennie of course!

We did the 8 Day Wildlife Photographic Private Safari - Kruger National Park - B1 Photo Safaris The best experience we've ever had in wildlife observation and photography. Without a doubt, the best holiday we have ever had, and we owe it in part to Bernhard and his brother Hennie . A great experience, I believe we will never forget the time we spent with them. With her professionalism from the first contact, everything was planned and arranged by mutual agreement and Bernard was completely available to answer our questions. All the suggestions they gave became reality. From the moment they picked us up until they dropped us off at our lodge, everything went perfectly, with nothing to say. Friendliness, punctuality, and availability at all times of the day. They always made our days very pleasant and we always ended with something that made the day better than the previous one. Every day our sighting expectations were met, both of animals and birds. During the 8 days we could not have had a better experience than this one. Always in contact with Nature. They were very experienced and had a deep knowledge of the park, the animals and the hotspots and always made sure that we were as close as possible to the animals/birds so that we could have the best angle for photography and observe them better. We saw 4 of the big 5, the rhino was missing, we saw a total of 39 species of wild animals and 7 species of reptiles. We saw 5 of the big 6 birds, the only thing missing was that Perl’s Fishing Owl we knew from the beginning that it would be very difficult to see. In total 140 species os birds seen and photographed. A success. I heartily recommend this company if you are planning on doing a safari in Kruger Park. We can't wait to book another safari with them. Thank you Bernhard and Hennie for the beautiful holiday and photographs you provided us.

We went on a 10 day Photographic Safari to Kruger National Park with Bernhard and Hennie of B1 Photo Safaris, who went above and beyond to make this a memorable experience. Their knowledge of the Park, animals and their behaviour and photography ensured that we got the best possible photography and videography opportunities. Their vehicle is ideally equipped for photographers. If you are a photographer and want to get good wildlife photos, or even if you just want great wildlife sightings, I highly recommend you make use of their services.

This is my third trip with B1. They somehow find a way to find you the most incredible subjects to photograph. Having skilled guides who use all their resources (to include Radio, digital, and just knowledge of the area) and understand animal behavior about as good as anybody, gives you the best chance of having a once-in-a-lifetime experience. They just go out of their way to ensure your experience is perfect. Just having coming back yesterday, I am still in amazement at what we saw; i just didn't expect it.

I’m not sure there is any way that I can do justice via a review to the amazing experience we had on our recent photographic safari with B1 Photo Safaris. This was our second trip to Kruger with B1, the first a 4-day photo safari in 2018, and the second a week+ in September and October 2021. I’m an avid wildlife photographer and visiting Kruger had long been on my bucket list. When I first planned our trip to Kruger in 2018, I had intended to do a self-drive. But the more research I did, the more I realized that I would have a very difficult time taking the photographs that I wanted from the driver’s seat of a rental car, especially as I’m more used to being able to set up a tripod on the side of the road in parks like Yellowstone. I began doing research and discovered B1 Photo Safaris, I contacted the company’s owners, Bernhard and Hennie Becker, and they worked with me to adapt the itinerary and rest camp stops I’d already planned into a photo safari using their vehicle. When the time for the trip finally came, it didn’t take long to realize that while the vehicle was a tremendous help (you get the entire open vehicle to yourself and they have extremely useful gimbal mounts strong enough to reliably hold my 500mm f/4) the true benefit of using the company was Bernhard and Hennie’s knowledge. Their ability to spot wildlife and then use their knowledge of the animals’ behavior to better position me for photographs was incredible. And they significantly improved my chances of getting good photographs. Moreover, they were an absolute delight as company, and I stayed in touch with them long after returning to the United States. This time, I planned my entire Kruger trip around B1 Photo Safaris. I originally planned the trip for 2020, but obviously we had to shift things around due to Covid. We reset the trip for 2021, and I let Bernhard set the itinerary however he wanted, as he’d earned my unquestioning trust after how well the previous trip had gone. In addition to my wife, my mom also joined us on the trip. She’d taken me to Yellowstone repeatedly growing up and had encouraged me to follow my love of photography as an adult; taking her to Kruger was something I really wanted to do. For a year, my mom had to hear my wife and I tell her how much we were looking forward to seeing Bernhard and Hennie again. Bernhard and Hennie met us in Skukuza and our trip immediately got started. They remembered everything we’d seen on the previous trip, and made plans to help us find the one elusive animal we’d missed the first time (a cheetah). Over the next week, we saw more animals than we’d ever thought we would. We trusted Bernhard and Hennie, and rather than stay in the more popular southern part of the park, we spent the majority of the time in the Shingwedzi area. Wow did it pay off. We saw more lions than we could count. We had amazing leopard encounters, a couple where we were the only vehicle there and another where we had the best position possible because Bernhard and Hennie perfectly predicted the leopard’s path from one spot to another several hundred meters away 20 minutes before it even happened so that they were able to get me in the PERFECT position for the photo. We even got to see our cheetah, watching it chase an impala at full speed not 20 feet from our vehicle. For the photographers who’d consider using B1, you cannot go wrong by hiring them to guide your safari. They will do everything possible to make sure your experience is incredible. They will put you in the best position you can be in order to capture the photos that you’ve traveled to South Africa to get. They both are talented photographers, so they will help arrange the trip, itinerary, destinations, and even the position of the vehicle to best suit your style and photography goals. Thanks to Bernhard and Hennie, you will be able to concentrate on your photos and let them capably deal with all the rest. In case you’re considering traveling with non-photographers too, my wife and mom can attest that they will still have an amazing time. Part of what makes B1 so great is that it is truly a pleasure to spend time with Bernhard and Hennie – and that’s a good thing considering you’ll likely be with them for the better part of 12 hours a day. One of the things they excel at is getting guests to appreciate the small things, whether that be pointing out and watching birds that I wouldn’t have otherwise noticed, pointing out and explaining animal behavior we otherwise wouldn’t have noticed, or even taking you to some less traveled but absolutely incredible vistas where you get to experience a bit of Kruger all to yourself. My mom, who only had a point-and-shoot, and my wife, who mainly just used her iPhone, had a blast. The only thing I disliked about our trip was that it had to end. But, I have a feeling it won’t be our last trip with B1 Photo Safaris (we’re already talking about going back). I promise you that you’ll feel the same way once you experience a trip with them yourself.

An amazing experience with the Bekker Brothers! My husband and I were well cared for with pick up from Skukuzu airport, and accommodations arranged so we could explore as far north as Shingwedzi, and down to Lower Sabie. I had been following B1 over many years and chose them to help us learn some photography skills while experiencing all Kruger NP had to offer. We were blown away by their patience, knowledge, and spotting skills. Their great personalities made this so much fun; what a bonus to have guides that can share their love of Kruger! We felt the value over attempting this as a self drive, on our own, exceeded our expectations. I’m sure we saw 50x more than we would have solo, and really appreciated learning about animal behavior and the many bush environs rather than just checking off a Big Five list. The vehicle equipped with gimbals & bean bags made us look like pros.So many special sightings; Cheetah at sunrise, huge elephant herds crossing the rivers, lions mating, 60+ different birds, wild dogs at last light of day. Highly recommend this trip of a lifetime!
