Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Today is the big day; prepare yourself for an encounter with one of Bwindi’s gentle giants: the endangered mountain gorilla. For most people this is the absolute highlight of their tour in Uganda. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest boasts both mountain gorillas and other primates- the only forest in Africa that can make this claim. It also hosts five other species of primates, 113 species of mammals, over 200 species of butterflies and 360 species of birds. The gorillas you track belong to one of nine habituated family groups who can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day. The time taken to track the gorillas can be as few as two hours to as many as seven hours. Once the gorillas have been located, your group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Coming face-to-face with a mountain gorilla is a truly humbling and emotional experience. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Uganda’s very own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’.

My husband and I just got back from our trip with Pamoja a few days ago and are still processing just how incredible our experience was--and probably will be for a long time! Gina was very communicative and helpful as we did wanted to do our itinerary "backwards" (flying into Kigali and going north through Uganda and flying out of Entebbe), and everything was planned accordingly and tweaked to omit/include any changes we preferred. We planned it this way to make sure we'd be fresh at the beginning of our trip for the gorilla trek in Bwindi (which was the main attraction of the trip for us and ended up being a once-in-a-lifetime, unbelievable experience). Our time in Rwanda/Uganda was made particularly special thanks to our guide, David, with whom we were lucky to share most of our time. David is truly wonderful: his cool, confident driving skills on "massage" roads; his wide-ranging knowledge about (and pride for) Ugandan wildlife, plants, culture, etc. and endless patience with all my questions about birds; his flexibility and calm, creative problem-solving when we encountered a few unexpected obstacles that always had us feeling reassured and taken care of; his sense of humor and warm nature that made him feel like not only our guide, but a friend by the end of our trip. He has a remarkable ability to spot animals and for keeping spirits up when they've been maybe not so easy to spot for a while (like our unfortunately rainy morning game drives), and with his help and extra effort, we were lucky enough to see all the Big 5--even 2 leopards together (next time, we'll have to work on the "Small 5" as David joked!). On that note: definitely bring a pair of binoculars to catch a closer look at animals spotted in the distance! Overall, Pamoja was great and we plan to travel with them again if we get the opportunity. Again, thanks to Gina for organizing our itinerary and the wonderful David who made our trip so unforgettable! - Kait and Adam

Best family trip ever!! Gina from Pamoja Travel and tours curated the best tour for my family during our summer trip to Uganda. We could not have asked for a better experience! She was so incredibly nice, informative and helpful every step of the way. What I appreciated more than anything is how accessible and responsive she was for any and all of my questions and concerns from Day 1 until I reached back home after my journey. We were definitely in good hands as I was initially hesitant to send money to an unfamiliar company overseas! We got to tour all of Uganda and had not only a jeep safari tour but so many walking tours and hikes to see rhinos, monkey, chimps and gorillas as well a boat tours to see animals. What an incredible experience! Our tour guide David was also incredibly nice and informative and made sure we had the best views and spots for our pictures. We would highly recommend a trip with Pamoja Travel and Tours. The lodges they partner with are incredible and they give you the best experience that will last a lifetime!

There are not enough adjectives to describe our experience with Pamoja Tours and our first visit o Uganda - Fabulous, amazing, jaw dropping. From the planning to the execution and delivery, we couldn't have been happier with our experience with Pamoja. Working closely with Regina Atamba, she crafted an itinerary that checked off all of interests and then some. The properties she suggested were stunning and the Ugandan hospitality was incredible. Our guide, Amos Kaggwa, got us over roads that I thought were impassable to see the most incredible wildlife and birds Uganda has to offer. He accomodated our interest in birds, stopping whenever there was something new to see, and even spotted the elusive shoebill stork in swamps along the road. The highlight of the trip was the fantastic (though exhausting) gorilla trek in Bwindi National Park. We were assigned to the Mubare family who is usually close to the park entrance but on this morning, they chose to keep moving until the trackers finally found them settled. Our experience was a 2+ hour jungle crawl over 2 miles with machetes used to clear the way. Our days were filled with tree climbing lions and leopards, chimp trekking, curious monkeys of all sorts, majestic elephants, a close up rhino encounter, hundreds of unique birds, buffalo, hippos, scenic boat rides and night game drives accompanied by park rangers who served as spotters. The unique wildlife and geography of Uganda makes it very different from other east African countries and should be on any animal lovers bucket list. There are long dusty, bumpy roads between several of the parks but it is all worth it. Pamoja Travel will ensure that your trip to "The Pearl of Africa" will be the most memorable one of your life.

We chose Pamoja for our 9-day Uganda/Rwanda trip and it was the best choice we ever made! The initial planning and coordination with Regina was amazing - fast and responsive and very flexible with changes we wanted to make to customize our trip. Upon arrival everything was smoothly coordinated and all ran according to plan. Allan, our guide, was a legend and we really enjoyed the entire trip with him. One of the best moments came when towards the end of our trip we wanted to make a change to the itinerary and stay an extra night at a hotel we really liked. The communication with Sperito and the whole team was seamless and they were able to coordinate the change with no problems. I wouldn’t change a single thing about our trip and itinerary and it was all due to the professionalism and general good vibes of the Pamoja team. Will certainly use them again when I return to the region!

Our Safari in Uganda was fantastic, it is a very beautiful and safe country. Our agency "Pamoja" coordinated every detail to the maximum, I am very grateful to Sperito and Regina. Our guide David was a gem, he guided us and took care of his pride like a lion, when I ran out of money, he lent us from his wallet. We were a family during those 13 days. I recommend this country, this agency and these beautiful people. Gilma

On February 2024 we were on a stunning 10-days safari tour with our beloved tour company Pamoja! We were relieved to find such trustable and honest people in this company. 🙏🏼 When you book your safari from far away it's always a gamble to decide who you should trust. Via Whatsapp Pamoja gained our trust by giving us all the informations with pictures and videos we needed to see. We did the 40% payment in advance and hoped this company really exists. They do, haha. They organized everything from our pick up at the airport to our very last day of our trip! We were blessed with the confidence they gave us and the professionalism these guys operated with. Pamoja helped us in any situation and was even flexible in extending our itinerary as we asked them to do so. They informed us about the fair prices and made the bookings rapidly after we wished for it. With our guide David Katantazi we were more than happy! He is an invaluable person with great experience and a very comfortable way of treatment. The way he adapted to our wishes and concerns is remarkable, we have no words to thank him. His driving style is calm and secure, we enjoyed every hour in his car, time flew by so rapidly! David had very interesting things to tell us about his wonderful country and I'm honored, that he and the people we met on our way, were open to share their culture with us like they did. We felt very welcome! I haven't described all the impressive things we have seen on our journey because that would let this review explode, haha. Apart from all the wonderful animals sightings that nature blessed us with, we could see breathtaking landscapes, get inspiring insight into Uganda's culture and experience all the warmheartedness of the ugandan people. David took us everywhere we wanted to go. I recomend every national park, but especially the ones with Gorillas and Chimps, as they are also a good variation to the safaris in car :D. Thank you Pamoja for this inspiring experience! It changed our way of looking at things and we made a lot of friends on this journey! We liked it so much that we are thinking about to come back within one or two years, lets hope to meet again soon!☺️🫶🏼 Best regards! Jonathan

It was one of the most amazing experience I have ever had going for gorilla tracking and habituation in Uganda. It was epic. I learned a lot about our close relatives and their social life. Out tour guides were spectacular at their jobs taking us through the think bushes and tress.
