The trek follows the original wartime trail and includes all sites of military significance during the Kokoda campaign.
The itinerary allows a visit to Lake Myola and camp at Bombers Campsite which is the best site along the trail – the only one with a hot shower!
We also trek across to the eastern side of the range that was defended by the 53rd and 2/16th Battalions.
The trek includes a solemn Dawn Service involving trekkers and our PNG guides and carriers at the Isurava Memorial. This service is regarded as the highlight of the Kokoda trek experience.

Adventure Kokoda was excellent. Gerhard was very professional and knowledgeable, providing great leadership throughout the trek. The experience was well organised and deeply meaningful, with Gerhard covering the history of Kokoda in an engaging and memorable way.

Nice walk. Good group of like minded people. Generally went like clockwork. No real surprises. Our group were all a similar pace. I liked how we waited every hour or so for the slower people. Food was so so. Monotonous. Trek leader was good

A big thankyou and congratulations to Adventure Kokoda and trek leader Peta Bull for the completion of another pilgrimage across the Kokoda Track. It is a demanding trek with many variables that could go wrong but at all times throughout this experience from initial admin through to completion of the trek I felt completely supported. Peta Bull is an excellent advocate for Adventure Kokoda. Peta’s leadership is authentic and resonates well with all her trekkers, PNG support crew and villagers . Her knowledge, passion and empathy clearly shows in her ability to relate the stories of the Kokoda campaign at the various battlesites, adding a unique perspective for trekkers. The PNG support crew are amazing and tireless in their devotion to the welfare of the group and many friendships were made. The campsites are plush, comfortable and very well maintained. Overall one of the greatest experiences of my lifetime and completely recommend Adventure Kokoda as your company of choice.

I recently did the Kokoda Trail with Adventure Kokoda from 13 - 23 July 2025. This is not just a hike in the jungle! This a pilgrimage to honour our brave Australian Soldiers who fought this campaign in 1942 and the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels who were right by their sides. I am absolutely delighted that I chose to do this pilgrimage with Adventure Kokoda. From the second I booked, Adventure Kokoda left no stone unturned in regard of how fit I needed to be and what I needed to bring. From their incredibly informative website to the abundance of information that came through on email, I felt very prepared. The trek itself is not easy but with Adventure Kokoda leading the way, I never felt at any time like I wouldn’t make it. Our trek leader, Peta Bull was nothing short of inspiring. Her knowledge about the battles fought along the way and her emotive delivery of battle stories made for a very emotionally charged but rewarding experience. The PNG carriers and support staff are amongst the most beautiful people I have ever met and many of these are direct descendants of the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels. My beautiful carrier, Bonsy had my back the whole way and the support crew made sure we had delicious and nutritionally balanced meals to get us through the hard trek. I cannot recommend Adventure Kokoda more highly for anyone who is considering doing the Kokoda Trail. They are easy to deal with, well organised and quite frankly, just fantastic. From the second we arrived in Port Moresby to the moment we left, they were by our sides with support, guidance and friendship. This is definitely a pilgrimage that all Australian’s who are physically able should do. The story of our Diggers during this campaign in PNG (which was a territory of Australia at the time), should never be forgotten. You will come away a changed person with an amazing new outlook on life and a wonderful new group of friends. Thank you Adventure Kokoda.

Having just completed the Kokoda trek I have to say this was the most physically demanding but equally most rewarding event I have completed. The planning and preparation information provided was awesome and certainly added value to the experience. For me the highlight was Brigade Hill and the dawn service at Isurava...this was extremely moving once you understood what our Boys endured defending our country. A callout to our Trek Leader Peta Bull who led us with so much energy and passion, particularly with the history behind the Kokoda battle. Her passion when telling the stories of mateship, endurance, sacrifice and courage left our group very emotional. A truly life changing experience that will stay with me forever 😊 A special mention to the PNG support crew... such beautiful caring people ❤️ Great job ADVENTURE KOKODA 👍

Adventure Kokoda (AK) exceeded all of my expectations by far. I could not recommended Peta Bull as Trek Leader highly enough. Peta was knowledge of the war time heritage, enthusiastic and a fantastic motivator. Peta's compassion for trekkers, carriers and support crew was great to see and created such a strong bond as a whole team making the whole trip fantastic. From pre-track information, airport pick up and trek organization nothing was a problem. Hiccups were dealt with efficiency and professionalism - "anything can happen in PNG". I could not recommend AK highly enough for anyone contemplating doing Kokoda Trek.

One of the amazing trekkers with our group best described the entire experience: "Challenging beauty". From the start, sorting the packing and preparation to the briefings and the eventual trek, the support and professional advice were 5-star. Peter Morrison is an outstanding guide, and along with the rest of AK, they align the trek with the narrative of the events that occurred on the soil we walked. There was not a single element of the trek that was not addressed and communicated to us as trekkers, to make us feel safe and also prepared for the day ahead. The porters made the entire experience! Getting to know them felt like getting to know PNG and its history. Walking through villages and meeting their families was a true blessing. We did the 9-day trek, and it was well paced and allowed for time at the end of the day to consolidate and talk to each other. The meals each day were great, with seconds at each meal. I cannot recommend Adventure Kokoda strongly enough as they are professional, informed and make the entire trek a true reflection of the footsteps of our diggers.

WOW!!! I cannot speak highly enough of Adventure Kokoda and our lead guide Jesse White. PNG and the Kokoda Trail is a must do at least once in every Aussie's lifetime. And when you go, you really must go with the pioneers and the unquestionable best! This was without doubt, the most incredible, life changing experience. The dawn service on the second last morning was moving beyond words, and an absolute highlight. My life, and perspective, will never be the same. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Courage. Endurance. Mateship. Sacrifice.

Wow what an adventure... I didn't really have any expectations prior to leaving for PNG but very early on i realised that this was going to be a truely exceptional life changing experience. It was muddy, hot, wet, extremely tough at times but all of that made for a richer experience. Our guide Jesse White fitted into the group with ease, he sprinkled in the right amount of war time history, stories, poems and was able to capture the emotion of the group. The PNG team were amazing, getting ready to catch you at any stumble and worked tirelessly to assist where they could. We laughed and we cried together - the dawn service at Isurava was a morning i will never forget thank you adventure Kokoda
