The fourth day is a day filled with adventure! Following an early morning breakfast, you'll take a slow drive through Moremi Game Reserve northeast towards the Khwai Community Area, complete with an open-air picnic. The day's journey follows the Manuchira Channel, which is known as the Khwai River at its easternmost extremity. The path weaves from the riverside and floodplains into the Mopane tree woodlands that make Khwai one of the most scenic areas in the Okavango Delta.

Khwai

Just keep your hand on your camera because, on our way to the Khwai Community Area, you'll pass the magnificent Dombo Hippo pools, stopping to enjoy the scenery and the antics of the resident Hippo. The eastern Mopane forest is also home to breeding herds of Elephants. Bull Elephants hang along the riverside most of the year and revel in the cool water of the Khwai. While drinking and bathing, they are far more approachable here than among the breeding herds. The river also has a high density of Hippos, as well as Crocodiles, Leopards, Lions, and Cheetahs. Both Xakanaxa and Khwai are included in the home ranges of different packs of Wild Dogs. You may also notice Southern Giraffes, Burchell Zebras, Greater Kudu, Tsessebe, Waterbuck, and Sable Antelope.

During this excursion, you'll be guided by an expert "poler" (a guide at the rear of the boat that moves it along with a long pole) through the bulrushes (plants) and marshes. On a moving day like today, you’ll grab everything you want to bring along with you for the whole day out in the bush because, after your early morning breakfast and morning game drive, you’ll travel north to Savuti. The entire drive takes place through game-rich areas and varying landscapes and is, therefore, an extension of your daily game drives. A picnic lunch will be served en route. Finally, when the sun sets, you’ll arrive at your new camp to find everything already set up and waiting for you to enjoy. The Savuti region is located within the heart of Chobe National Park, offering a unique mix of marshlands, open savannahs, and more. It’s most well-known for its high concentration of predators, particularly Lions, as well as its abundant Elephant population. Savuti offers dramatic game viewing and a somewhat eerie atmosphere. It is also well known as one of the best areas for big cat viewing.

Wake up early on your final morning for a light breakfast before heading further north – this time to Kasane, a town located in the northeastern corner of Botswana, near the borders with Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Once again this will be in the form of a game drive as you will be driving through the Chobe National Park - believed to be the best “year-round wildlife photography destination in Africa”, until you reach Kasane. Around lunchtime, you’ll stop for a cold meal out in the bush before continuing on your journey.

Kasane

After a long drive, you’ll arrive at your lodge in Kasane in time for a sunset boat cruise on the mighty Chobe River. A highlight is to see a whole herd of Elephants splashing across the river, followed by an entertaining mud bath and dusting rituals. However, it’s not just the Elephants that keep us busy on a safari on the Chobe River. Herds of Buffalo, Red Lechwe, Waterbuck, and Puku inhabit the floodplains during the dry season – along with Hippos, Crocodiles, Water Monitors, and an astonishing variety of birds. When predators like Lion or Leopard come down to drink, the biggest advantage of being on a boat is that you can photograph them head-on and at eye level, which always produces a wonderfully intimate portrait.

  • Wild For Game Safaris Surpasses All Hopes and Expectations

Know that type of vacation you can't stop thinking about and never want to let go of? The kind you want to hold close to your heart for all eternity? My Northern Exposure 11-day Safari with Wild For Game Safaris was that kind of trip. Everything was superlative, from the amazingly knowledgeable guide (really a highly-trained naturalist) to the excellent food and care we received at camp to the final drop off for the journey home. As for the wildlife, we saw more mammals than I even expected to find in Botswana and a most wonderful plus were the 130 species of birds we saw. Miles upon miles of elephants, lions playing and mating, zebras galore and so much more. I am already planning my next trip to Botswana with WFG Safaris.

Absolutely superb trip. I had been on 3 other safaris before in Tanzania and South Africa . This trip was the stand out one for me. Mobile safari is an immersive experience. You are embedded with the wildlife for the whole duration. Amazing sounds at night and wonderful night sky. I loved the camaraderie of the guests ( 2 other friends) and another couple who we gelled with. Lucas ( owner and guide) is superbly knowledgeable and is a skilled guide. Many guides just follow intelligence gathered on CB radios but Lucas is the “real deal”. Tracked down a male lion, 2 superb leopard sightings that we would have completely missed. We saw so much. . 185 species of birds, 4 Lion sightings, 3 leopard sightings. Witnessed a leopard killing an antelope and another one consuming its kill. Painted dogs experience was great too. None of this would not been possible without Lucas and his patience. You have to wait and observe rather than drive around frantically. He embraces the slow safari and it works. The tents were good with private outdoor en suite with camping shower. Food was fantastic - Musa the cook did a brilliant job baking bread, cakes and our meals on a mobile camping oven! If you are a keen wildlife person- value the 6am starts to capture the “golden hour” and like watching/ photographing wildlife this is the tour for you. You won’t forget it! Superb sunrises/ sunsets and a safari experience you will never forget. Lucas is highly professional and dedicated. Decent kit and well maintained vehicles. Very attentive and high level of communication and English . Would definitely recommend!

The best safari experiences our family ever had. We didn’t expect so professional team, so good experience from first day when Lucas come and greet us at airport Till last day when Max left us on day we go back from our trip. Botswana have a lot to ofer, wild life landscapes culture, everywhere our guide Max took us was something amazing to see he was so good at wild animals tracking. Our family will always recommend Lucas company, actually we already decide to go again. Tailored safaris are really good as our family could enjoy all experience as it was only us in car no others expect our Guide, who do everything to make us amazed all team make atmosphere like in family it was rally extraordinary. 11 days is perfect for this kind of safari, we enjoy it very much, with all professional way Lucas team take care of us was amazing, obviously not everyone can enjoy it as you need to sleep in tents take shower in nature but for us it was one of the most amazing experience in our life, In our opinion price was much better then travel companies for experience Lucas give us, and after all the way from Maun to Kasane Lucas book us very comfortable Lodge for us to enjoy rest of ours stay. Our Guide Max stay with us till end as well he went with us to Victoria falls which was very nice and professional. Wild for games safari will always be in our hearts, and we can’t wait to go with them again.

  • Brilliant experience – trip of a lifetime

    geofftravel,Sep 28, 2025

    - Review from Tripadvisor

The 4 of us enjoyed Wild for Game’s 15 day mobile safari though the Okavango taking in Moremi, Kwai, Savuti, Chobe Riverfront and Victoria Falls. It was such a varied and exciting trip through Northern Botswana, made special by our guide Lucas Tshupo and the warmth and humour of his team. Lucas, the owner of the Wild for Game company, is a Batswana as is the team, so all your money stays in country, a key factor for us. Lucas must be THE top guide in Botswana, so extensive and deep is his knowledge. His ability to see animals and birds while driving through the bush is uncanny and enriched our experience beyond measure: the leopard visible only by its head briefly silhouetted at the base of a termite mound; the twitch of a bat-eared fox’s ear above tall grasses; the mark of a snake in the sand by the track, none of which we’d have seen without Lucas. A keen naturalist and photographer himself, Lucas would always attempt to position our vehicle to provide us with the best angle for a picture or to sit and experience a herd of elephant moving slowly down to water. Well-thumbed reference books were always by his side for us to look at or to help us identify an animal, a bird, a reptile or a plant. Immensely respectful of the wildlife and the environment, or his fellow guides, Lucas never crowded an animal and was always alert to a threat or the needs of other groups approaching. We were never rushed, Lucas preferring to drift along a road and always with time to sit, switch off the engine and listen, taking in sights, sounds and smells. Our tents beds and facilities were very comfortable. A mobile safari involves erecting all the tents and breaking camp every 3 nights to move to the next place. The camp staff, Musa, Twometres and Madu, were superb, each with well-defined roles, welcoming, warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We ate extremely well: just how Musa turns out a souffle on a camp stove defies belief, but he did. A 5.30am wake-up brought warm water for a quick wash before breakfast, hot porridge, juice, fruit, tea, coffee, all before piling into the Landcruiser for the morning game drive. Lunch in camp or as a picnic when on the move and evening dinner was different but delicious every day. Drinks by the evening campfire listening to bullfrogs, hippos and owls, a hyena in the distance, was just so relaxing after a hard day watching lions bringing cubs down to drink, elephants, buffalo, antelope of every stripe, carmine bee-eaters, whatever. It was hot – up to 40C – but there was always shade in camp and the afternoon/evening game drive started as it cooled when wildlife began to move again. Night falls swiftly in Botswana, dark shortly after 6.30pm, but the sunsets (and sunrises) were spectacular. A couple of night-drives revealed spring hares, honey badgers, a hyena cooling in water and uniquely, a Genet cat hunting and catching a rodent, Exciting! Ours was a simply wondrous experience to linger long in the memory and to share with family and friends for ever. If you want to see Botswana, Wild for Game should be absolutely the first safari company you look at. We would wholeheartedly recommend Lucas and his team without reservation for the trip of a lifetime!

I could not have imagined a better safari than the safari that Wild For Game provided for us. From the second that we got into the truck to the second we left, Lucas was full of information and ready to answer any question that we asked. Each day, we seemed to be one of the first safari companies out of the campsites and one of the last returning, making the most of the time on the game drives. Lucas used bird calls, baboon alarms, and tracks in the sand to help us find every animal that we wanted to see, including leopards, cheetahs, lions, wild dogs, elephants (which are hilarious to watch!!) , giraffes, and so much more! The highlight was seeing all the different babies of each animal species; they are so cute! Lucas gave us plenty of time at each animal viewing, and we never felt rushed to move on before we were ready. Each game drive had some new and exciting things to see, including the beautiful and vast landscape of the three different parks. Not only was the guide, Lucas, and the game drives top-notch the rest of the staff and accommodations were great as well. Each day you were served delicious meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner! I was so impressed with what can be made in a bush oven. Although you are staying in a tent, it was definitely glamping not camping. We had comfortable beds, hot showers, and laundry services if needed. The staff was so kind and was available to help anytime a request was made. If you are looking for an adventure, I highly recommend booking with Wild For Game Safaris!

We took the 11-day Northern Explorer Trip with Wild for Game in August of 2025. From start to finish it was amazing. Not only did we see an astonishing amount of diverse wildlife, but it was the quality of the sightings that were off the graph. I’ll start with our phenomenal guide Marks. His vast experience, deep knowledge of the areas we visited and keen interest in the client’s experience makes him an exemplary safari guide. He would listen to the calls of the animals at night and develop a plan on how and when to see them best the next day. His tracking skills are ridiculously good, and we were often the first or only ones at lion prides, cheetahs and leopard (with or without a kill). He is very aware the getting the best position and sunlight to view and photograph the animals. I hope my photos here prove that. Our chef Pula was fantastic, putting together meal after meal (including soups and desserts) of great food. He even had snacks/tea/coffee/hot chocolate for all game drive breaks. His ability to plan and cook a variety of cuisines with just a fire is impressive. He always made ample amounts; we could never finish all that he made. Chucks, our cabin steward and MD & MT (our waiters) were super as well. They always greeted us on return from game drives with enthusiasm, a cold towel and a refreshing cold drink. They made sure our cabins were clean & orderly. The hot water bottle in bed each night made the nighttime really cozy. My advice, don’t try to do this trip as a self-drive. Even if you are an experienced camper, there are no signs in these vast areas to navigate around (even with GPS), the terrain can be very challenging (rocky roads, objects to avoid, very deep sand and in places marshy water. We saw many breakdowns with others. On top of that, looking for wild game is not for amateurs. Driving around just searching does not work, is inefficient and following others is not reliable. You are there for a limited number of days, make them count by hiring professionals, well worth the money and you’ll have a better time.

An absolutely amazing experience. The mobile camping Safari offered by Lucas is very flexible when accommodating our needs, and provides a superior wildlife experience compared to lodges and permanent campsites. There is no set agenda and you can easily spend an hour just watching Cheaters, or Lion cubs, or Wild Dog pups. The team members are very friendly and attentive, and the food is the best I have had on a Safari. Lucas is an experienced guide and can tell you the life cycle of every animal we came across. He knows how to safely get up close to the wildlife, and where to find them. Will definitely go again with Wild For Game Safaris.
