Angkor Thom South Gate
The south gate of Angkor Thom is most popular with visitors, as it has been fully restored and many of the heads remain in place. The gate is on the main road into Angkor Thom from Angkor Wat.
Bayon Temple
The Bayon Temple, which was constructed during Jayavarman VII's reign, is unique as it is the only Buddhist state temple and the last to be built in the Angkor Empire
Angkor Thom is undeniably an expression of the highest genius. It is, in three dimensions and on a scale worthy of an entire nation, the materialization of Buddhist cosmology, representing ideas that only great painters would dare to portray
Baphuon Temple
Baphoun is the temple stands on a rectangular sandstone base with five levels that are approximately the same size, rather than the more common form of successively smaller levels. The first, second and third levels are surrounded by sandstone galleries. Baphuon is the first structure in which stone galleries with a central tower appear. Two libraries in the shape of a cross with four porches stand in the courtyard. They were originally connected by an elevated walkway supported by columns
Phimeanakas
Phimeanakas temple is situated near the center of the area enclosed by the walls of the Royal Palace. It must originally have been crowned with a golden pinnacle, as Zhou Daguan described it as the Tower of Gold The temple is built of roughly hewn sandstone blocks and has little decoration
Terrace of the Elephants
The elephants are ridden by servants and princes, and tread as quietly as if they were on an excursive promenade. The steps of even length have no respect for any obstacle. The forest in which they travel in impenetrable to all but tiny creatures, able to squeeze their smallness between the fissures of the undergrowth and to the biggest animals, which crush chasms for their passage in the virgin vegetation
Terrace of the Leper King
The terrace of the Leper King carries on the theme of grandeur that characterises the building during Jayavarman VII's reign. It is faced with dramatic bas-reliefs, both on the interior and exterior. During clearing, the EFEO found a second wall with bas-relief similar in composition to those of the outer wall and some archaeologists believe that this second wall is evidence of a late rites, two meters wide of laterite faced with sandstone. It collapsed and a second wall of the materials, two meters wide, was built right in front of it without any of the rubble being cleared. Recently, the EFEO has created a false corridor which allows visitor to inspect the relief on the first wall
Ta Nei Temple
Ta Nei is a late 12th century stone temple in Angkor, Cambodia. Built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII, it is near the northwest corner of the East Baray, a large holy reservoir. It was dedicated to the Buddha.
Ta Prohm Temple
Ta Prohm is the undisputed capital of the kingdom of the Trees. It has been left untouched by archaeologists except for the clearing of a path for visitors and structural strengthening to stave of further deterioration. Because of its natural state, it is possible to experience at this temple the wonder of the early explorers when they came upon these monuments in the middle of the nineteenth century. Shrouded in dense jungle the temple of Ta Prohm is ethereal in aspect and conjures up a romantic aura. Fig, banyan and kapok trees spread their gigantic roots over stones, probing walls and terraces apart, as their branches and leaves intertwine to form a roof over the structures. Trunks of trees twist amongst stone pillars. The strange, haunted charm of the place entwines itself about you as you go, as inescapably as the roots have wound themselves about the walls and towers.
Angkor Wat
Angkor Wat, the largest monument of the Angkor group and the best preserved, is an architectural masterpiece. Its perfection in composition, balance, proportions, relief's and sculpture make it one of the finest monuments in the world. It is generally accepted that Angkor Wat was a funerary temple for King Suryavarman II and oriented to the west to conform to the symbolism between the setting sun and death. The bas-reliefs, designed for viewing from left to right in the order of Hindu funereal ritual, support this function
Phnom Bakheng
Phnom Bakheng is the highest temple in the Angkor Archeological Park, offering the best panoramic views of the whole area. Phnom Bakheng is a temple mountain in honor of the Hindu god Shiva and one of the oldest temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park
Banteay Srei
Bateay Srei is the unanimous opinion amongst French archaeologists who worked at Angkor is that Banteay Srei is a 'precious gem' and a 'jewel in Khmer art'. Banteay Srei, as it is known by locals and it was originally called Isvarapura, according to inscriptions. It was by a Brahmin of royal descent who was spiritual teacher to Jayavarman V. Some describe, it is a being closer in architecture and decoration to Indian models than any other temple at Angkor. A special feature of the exquisite decoration was the use of a hard pink sandstone (quartz arenite) where enabled the technique of sandalwood carving with even an Indian scent to it.
Banteay Samre
Banteay Samre is one of the most complete complexes at Angkor due to restoration using the method of anastylosis. Unfortunately, the absence of maintenance over the past 20 years is evident. The name Samre refers to an ethnic group of mountain people, who inhabited the regions at the base of Phnom Kulen and were probably related to the Khmers.
Pre Rup
Pre Rup is superb of boldness of the architectural design and give the temple fine balance, scale and proportion. The temple is almost identical in style to the East Mebon, although it was built several yeas later. It is the last real temple mountain. Pre Rup was called the 'City of the East ' by Philippe Stern, a Frenchman who worked on the site but the Cambodians have always regarded this temple as having funerary associations but reason is unknown. The name Pre Rup recalls one of the rituals of cremation in which the silhouette of the body of the deceased, outlined with its ashes, is successively represented according to different orientations, Some archaeologists believe that the large vat located at the base of the east stairway to the central area was used at cremations.
Ta Som
a Som has not been restored. It is a small quiet temple and affords a delightful visit. In the past one of the significant features of Ta Som was the growth of fig trees the faces at the entrance towers. These have been cut from the east tower but they are still visible at the west one. Ta Som is a single tower monument on one level surrounded by three enclosing walls with entry on the east and west carved with four faces, the face on the right of the east tower (facing the temple) has a beautiful smile. The entry towers are in the shape of a cross with a small room on each side connecting to a literate wall.
Neak Pean
Neak Pean is one of the temples that make one dream of the olden days of luxury and beauty, it is a large square man made pond ( 70 meters, 230 feet each side ) bordered by steps and surrounded by four smaller ponds. A small circular island with a stepped base of seven laterite tiers is in the center of the large square pond. Small elephants sculpted in the round originally stood on the four comers. The central tower was dedicated to Avalokitesvara.
Preah Khan
Preah Khan temple is located 2 kilometers north-east of Angkor Thorn on the Grand Circuit. The temple was built in the second half of the 12th century in AD 1191 by King Jaya-varman VII, dedicating to his father Dharanindravarman. The Buddhist complex covers 56 hectares served as the nucleus of a group of Angkor complex
Banteay Prei
Banteay Prei is a rarely visited temple located near to another small temple called Prasat Prei. Temple is a minor temple that will only be of interest to those with time and specific interest in studying Angkor in-depth
Preah Dak Market is a famous and popular place for souvenirs such as objects and arts. Visitors can discover beautiful places

This tour was just what we expected and wanted, not to say it was even better. Communications were clear before the excursion and answered any questions we had. We were picked up at our hotel and driven back on both days. The tour was sensational and was a bit costumized as we went by, the tour was very adaptable to our needs and based on our pace since there were areas where we wanted to spend more time. Leap, our guide, was absolutely incredible. He was sooo knowledgeable. He explained in details history, and was minutions to bring to our attention to details at each stop. He was patient and very gentle and nice. I would recommend him to anyone. We want to come back to visit more with him and our driver…Mr.Ry. Both trested us like family. Always offering water, refreshing towels and again… adapting the trip as we went through it. We loved our expérience of the private tour, it really allowed us to dédicate the time and attention to learn and enjoy. Each temple had a unique side to it. One would be concerned or would expect redundancy but no… this was incredible. Could not ask for better! Orkun to the tour team!

In April 2025, I went on a private (2 people) 2-day tour of 11 temples in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The first temple we saw was Angkor Wat, and the next 10, although not as well-known, were also very beautiful and interesting. Our guide, Leap, and our driver, Ry, were both great. Leap shared with us his amazing knowledge about the history and architecture of all the temples we visited. It was quite hot in Siem Reap in April, and we were greeted after each temple visit with a cold wet washcloth and a cold bottle of water (which was so appreciated!). If you are planning a trip to Siem Reap and your focus is on visiting Angkor Wat and other temples in the area, I highly recommend taking the 2-day tour of Angkor temples with Cambodia Travel & Tours.

The 2-day temple tour with About Cambodia travel was excellent. We toured 11 temples. Our guide, Leap, and our driver, Ry, were outstanding. Both were very courteous and professional. It is very hot in Siem Reap in April, and after every temple tour we were greeted with a cold wet washcloth. And there was always nice cold water. Leap is very knowledgeable about the history and architecture of the temples. If you go to Siem Reap, I highly recommend the About Cambodia Travel 2-day temple tour.

Amazing tour highlighting the main temples of Siem Reap. Our tour guide, Leap, was also amazing. He smiled and laughed a lot and was very passionate about Cambodia, told lots of stories and historical facts pertaining to each temple. Our driver had lots of cold water and towels to keep us cool between temples. We really enjoyed every bit of the tour.

We were a group of four, on a two day tour of Angkor Wat, with a guide - Mr. Sara. On the first day we visited the inner circle temples in two tuk tuks, on the second day we visited the grand circle in a minivan. Both days were excellent, thanks to our excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable, he really brought the stories about each temple to life, and was happy to answer all our questions. It was a pleasure to spend two days with him! Everything was well organised, we weren't rushed at all despite seeing a lot of temples we had plenty of time to explore and to listen to Mr. Sara's expansions. We also had plenty of water and cold towels between each stop which was lovely. We were able to customise our itinerary, as the operator was happy for us to choose the temples we wanted to visit. I would definitely recommend this tour operator, and Mr. Sara as a guide!

We had a wonderful 2 day tour, especially thanks to Sara, our guide! He was friendly and kind, very knowledgeable and clearly very passionate about the history of Cambodia and Angkor Wat. We had plenty of water and cold towels between stops on the tour, and umbrellas for when it rained on day 2. We did the inner circuit on our first day, in two tuk Turks (for 4 people). This included the "big three" of Angkor Wat, Bayon and Tha Prohm, but we were also able to amend the itinerary and add some smaller, less busy sites like Prasat Kravan and Bantey Kdei - we saw 9 sites in total, which was a bit tiring in the heat, but absolutely worth it, you should see as much as you can while you are here! The smaller sites were beautiful and thanks to Sara we were able to understand why each one is significant, and to see details we would otherwise have missed. We also saw, and learned about, the ongoing conservation effort to restore the temples which was fascinating. Second day we were taken in a van to the bigger circuit including the amazing Bantey Srei with intricate carvings, and Naek Poan island. Again Sara shared a great deal of knowledge, with a personal touch - sharing about his own family and Cambodian life - which broadened our knowledge of this beautiful country. I would recommend this tour, and our guide, to anyone!

We had the 2 day trip with Leam and La and it was an amazing experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and explained everything to us without being boring. We were a small group of 3 and the private tour which was a little bit more expensive gave us the freedom to explore at our own pace. Definitely recommend it.

It was amazing private trip. The guide show us most important temples, and told us the history of each, in such details, interesting facts and stories related to each, that I'll remember. I am going to recommend the trip to my friends for sure! Thank you, Leam and La!!!
