  • Lofoten Tour Experience – Consider Discover Lofoten Instead

    wa02,,Dec 24, 2025

    - Review from Tripadvisor

    1.00

I am leaving this review to warn other travelers about serious operational and communication failures by this company. I joined a two-day tour in Lofoten. While I physically attended both days, the handling of the second day caused extreme distress and showed a serious lack of duty of care. After the first day tour, I sent a factual email noting that we did not actually enter Reine, which had been described as one of the final stops of the tour, and that we only took photos from far away, which was true. The owner, Claudia Gasperini, replied stating “I called to ask the tour guide, and every tourist of today. We did go.” and then abruptly added “Tomorrow’s tour is cancelled!” I immediately apologized to avoid any misunderstanding. After that, I received no reply for the entire night, leaving me completely uncertain whether the second day tour was confirmed or cancelled. I did not sleep at all and had to seek help from my hotel after reception hours due to the anxiety caused by this situation. Out of concern, I contacted Discover Lofoten. Their owner was extremely kind and professional, and told me that if the tour was truly cancelled, I could call around 8:00 a.m. to join a 9:00 tour, so that I would not lose my day. Early the next morning, I suddenly received a message from Claudia Gasperini saying that the guide would leave immediately if I did not respond at once, creating further stress. I later confirmed with other participants and the tour guide that the tour had indeed not been cancelled, only me. What concerns me even more is information I received from another licensed tour operator in Lofoten, who personally witnessed a separate incident involving Claudia Gasperini. In that case, one vehicle of guests had been given conflicting itineraries arranged by her company — half were told they were going north, half south. Claudia then cancelled the tour on the spot. Those guests were ultimately transported for free by the owner of Discover Lofoten, who did this voluntarily, so the travelers would not lose their entire day. I heard Claudia Gasperini did not pay him at all. After my tour, I submitted a polite and factual complaint requesting a refund related to the handling of the second day. Instead of addressing the issue, the company responded by threatening legal action and calling my complaint “harassment.” Additionally, before the tour even started, I asked why their tour hours were significantly shorter than other operators and whether the tour could start earlier instead of as late as 9:30. The only response I received was: “You can cancel.” No consideration was given to the time, cost, and effort travelers invest to be in Lofoten for only a few days. Travelers come to Lofoten with limited time and high expectations. In my experience, this company demonstrated poor planning, misleading communication, and unprofessional customer handling. I strongly recommend choosing another operator, such as Discover Lofoten, whose owner showed genuine care and professionalism — including telling me on the day itself that if my tour was cancelled, he would try to help transport me so I would not lose the day. Given that Claudia Gasperini has stated that further communication constitutes “harassment,” I will not engage in arguments here. I am following proper legal and consumer protection processes and retain full written documentation to support this review.

  • Best title for tour is highlights tour not photography

    Diane S,,Oct 6, 2025

    - Review from Tripadvisor

    3.00

If you want a tour of the main highlights of islands with a good guide, this is great. It shows the key locations that the islands are known for. The guides are nice people who have good knowledge of what you’d be seeing. You won’t be disappointed. The tour, however, is titled as a photography tour but is not led by photographers; the guides are not photographers and don’t profess to be so. It would have been good to stop at the places Lofoten known for (as it does) as well as places that are scenic or simply make for good photography because of good composition, light, lines, story, or colors. Experienced photographers may want to look at this further before booking.

  • Two days Lofoten islands tour and northern lights tour

We joined the two days Lofoten islands tour and also northern lights tour with the company Lofoten lights Our guide for south Lofoten archipelago was Mark, he drives safely and drove us to eat at Anita's which serves nice lunch. The weather was a bit grayish on the day we toured the south but we managed to get good photos with nice viewpoints under Mark's guidance Our guide for north Lofoten archipelago was Simone. He is super humorous, dedicated and passionate about his job, bringing us to hidden secret places and also guiding us up a passage at haukland beach to get the most picturesque view of haukland beach. He also helped my elderly mum navigate some parts of the beach that was difficult to walk on. The weather was also lovely bright and sunny and we got lots of beautiful photos! Both Simone and Mark were informative about Lofoten islands. Simone even dropped us at svinoya so we can enjoy the great view since the weather was so good before walking back to our hotel. North and South Lofoten were both beautiful. Our guide Magdalena brought us to see northern lights. The northern lights activity was good and sky was mostly clear so we could get nice northern lights photos with it dancing in the sky, and we could see green, purple and some pink lights without naked eye! Magdalena helped take northern lights photos for us and a link will be sent to download it later. We enjoyed our trip with Simone, Mark and Magdalena. Thank you Lofoten lights and thank you to all the guides.

The 2-day tour was magnificent! We were lucky to get some good weather in between the snow storms. The island is so pretty! The tour guides from lofoten lights are very professional and knowledgeable about the island. They were very friendly and accommodating, especially Eliza! She really catered for everyone’s need. We had some really great time with the tour! Will definitely come back to the island again one day in other seasons!

  • Long Days in cramped van, but worth it

    Cole S,,Mar 16, 2023

    - Review from Viator

    4.00

Excellent knowledgeable local guides who knew their way around the islands. Driving in Lofoten in the winter isn’t the easiest task in the world. 4/5 star rating due to companies choice in vehicles. 2 door cargo vans with room 8 seats + driver. Both Viator and local tour website stated that the tour maximum was 7 people. However, both days of tour, it was overbooked by 1, which made for cramped vehicle ride for people who had to ride in front seat with driver.

I booked this tour with the "Lofoten Lights". Eric was our guide and he showed us so many many beautiful spots around the north island. We had another guide but I don't remember his name who took us to the south island. Recommend this tour if you have free time in the morning till afternoon. Well arrangement and professional travel agent.

We stayed on the Lofoten only for two nights. Not wanting to rent a car, we opted for the "2 - Day Winter Sightseeing & Photography Tour in Lofoten". We can highly recommend it! It gave us the best possible experience we could have wished for! We saw so many beautiful places/sceneries with our guide, Eric. Eric always made sure everybody got the time they needed for taking pictures, so that nobody felt rushed, yet we could still visit all the planned destinations. On the way there, Eric would share his knowlegde and fun facts on the surroundings and life on the Lofoten, as well as tips for where to best experience/photograph the Northern lights (even without car). On the second day, we even had all the car and time for ourselves, as the rest of the group from day 1 had only booked a one-day-trip. What a treat :) Thanks again, Eric!
