Arrived on the island by going down the faidherbe bridge the view is filled by a block of building: the governance of the old colonial fort, still remain walls with the very thick base, vestiges of the first buttresses, visible from the street miles The cross. To the west, the governance opens onto a shady square bearing the name of Governor Faidherbe whose statue sits imperturbably in the garden. Place Faidherbe first called the Savannah then Place d'Oleans bordered by the northern and southern roghat barracks. On either side of this central square are the two districts of the island: the south and the north. Along the way you can discover old buildings with typical architecture.
