A short introduction into the Pantanal region with a chance to see some of the wildlife of the region and appreciate the landscape. The Pousada was lovely and although only a short journey away, the guides took me out on regular trips to see the surrounding area.

We booked the 2 Days 1 Night Pantanal Eco Tour from Cuiabá with Gasparetours and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the very beginning, the team’s communication was excellent and they arranged a smooth hotel pick up for us. At the start of our journey, we had the pleasure of meeting three members of their team: Igor, Alessandra (our guide), and Juju (our driver). All of them were warm, welcoming, and professional, instantly making us feel at ease. We were especially fortunate to have a private tour, which allowed us to fully appreciate the knowledge and dedication of our guide Alessandra. She is truly outstanding. Not only does she speak four languages fluently, but she also has an extraordinary depth of knowledge about the Pantanal’s flora, fauna, geology, and history. With her background in geology, she provided fascinating insights into the region’s terrain and even the ongoing gold mining that still takes place in the area. Her passion and ability to explain complex topics in an engaging way enriched every moment of our tour. The drive to the Rio Claro Lodge was comfortable and included a quick stop to pick up snacks and water. The lodge itself was wonderful with spacious, clean rooms complete with air conditioning and private bathrooms, providing a comfortable base in the middle of nature. The surrounding wildlife was remarkable; from capybaras and capuchin monkeys to caimans and vibrant hyacinth macaws, it felt like the Pantanal came alive right outside our doorstep. During our stay, we joined guided excursions with local lodge guides alongside Alessandra. While we unfortunately did not get the chance to do the night safari, we still enjoyed a fantastic nature walk where we learned so much about the environment and spotted wildlife such as a red footed tortoise and some peccaries. Back at the lodge, one of our favorite activities was going out at night with a torch for some informal spotlighting. Seeing caiman, capybaras, and amphibians in their natural nocturnal state was unforgettable (though caution is definitely advised around the water’s edge as some of those caiman are huge and impressively quick). The following morning, we set off on a boat tour along the Pantanal river, which was another highlight. The birdlife is simply extraordinary; toucans were a standout, and to our amazement, we even spotted an ocelot, which was a rare and thrilling encounter. While jaguars and other iconic species like giant river otters, anteaters, and tapirs are more commonly seen further south toward Porto Jofre, the variety of wildlife we encountered was still incredible. If you love birds, the Pantanal is truly paradise. It is worth mentioning that tourism in the Pantanal does come at a price and can be quite expensive compared to other destinations in Brazil. However, the richness of the experience, the level of expertise from guides like Alessandra, and the chance to witness such extraordinary wildlife in its natural habitat make every penny worthwhile. Alessandra deserves special recognition as she is an exceptional guide and a real asset to Gasparetours. Beyond her expertise, she is wonderfully friendly, chatty, and attentive, always going the extra mile to share not just information about the wildlife, but also about local culture, daily life, and even food. Her enthusiasm is infectious and she made our entire trip feel personal and memorable. A particular highlight was trying our hand at fishing, where we managed to catch our very first yellow bellied piranha, which was a fun and unique experience. Overall, this tour far exceeded our expectations. The Pantanal is a magical place and Gasparetours provided us with an experience we will never forget. We left feeling inspired, grateful, and already eager to return for a longer stay in hopes of spotting more of the region’s incredible wildlife, including the elusive jaguar. We cannot recommend Gasparetours and especially Alessandra highly enough. If you are considering exploring the Pantanal, this is the team to do it with.

We enjoyed the 5 day / 4 night safari a lot. We saw a lot of animals during the 3 days on the river, of course some cool Jaguar action. The lodge was comfortable with good food (also for vegetarian). 3 days on the river was perfect for us. Communication with Igor to prepare the trip was excellent. During the trip Alex was our guide. Alex speaks a lot of different languages and has a lot of knowledge of the area, as he goes there since he was a little kid. Once again, I would def recommend Igor Gasparetour.

Alex and Juju took good care of me. This tour was was my first time doing a safari and it was very much worth it. Though we weren’t lucky enough to get tto see a jaguar we did see plenty of wild life. The highlight may have been feeding and touching caymans. The inn where we stayed the night was very nice, with a/c, wifi and a pool. Lots of different birds all around. I would recommend this tour to anyone with short on time art Pantanal. We went out on the safari truck three times and on the boat once.

Absolutely unforgettable trip to the Pantanal! The landscapes were stunning, the wildlife abundant, and the guides fantastic. The highlight was watching a jaguar hunting by the riverbank — a moment I’ll never forget. Everything from the lodges to the boat safaris was perfectly organized. Highly recommend this adventure for anyone passionate about nature and wildlife photography. Would go back in a heartbeat!
