Day 1

Swakopmund Sossusvlei

Accommodations

We often use Moon Mountain luxury tented camp. Each unit has its own pool and bathroom. Dinner is included

Namib-Naukluft Park

Our Swakopmund Tour starts early and heads through the Namib desert to Sossusvlei. Its about 4 Hours drive through some geological wonders, of lava flow periods and some interesting rock formations through the millions of years of erosion.

Dune 45

On arriving at the park entrance at Sesriem we proceed to dune 45 . We stop to take photos or even climb it

Big Daddy Dune

Next stop is Big Daddy , the highest dune we can climb at 380m. Some take on the challenge and see if they can conquer this mighty dune.

Deadvlei

Right next to Big Daddy is Deadvlei. A short dune walk takes us to this wonderful peaceful spot. Here the trees died 140 years ago. A Photographers dream.

Sossusvlei

Sossusvlei is not far away and we view this astounding site. We sit and rest under the big Anna trees, and drink something to cool off.

Elim Dunes

A short stop at Elim dune to see alot of game like Oryx, Springbuck and Ostriches

Sesriem Canyon

Our last stop is at Sesriem Canyon. Here we see millions of years of erosion as a small rivulet has carved a deep gorge into the hard solid lava covered earth, some 30m deep. It is short and deep and completely hidden, a rare sight. Sadly our time has come to leave the park and head to our accommodation.

Sossusvlei Walvisbay

Light Lunch with Beers , cider, and cold drinks

Solitaire

After leaving the lodge early in the morning we stop to refuel at Solitaire. A small desert town where we grab a nice cup of coffee and the famous 'Moose Mc Gregor' apple pie. on our way to Walvisbay.

Walvis Bay

We go to the Flamingos in the Walvis Bay Lagune and past the pink salt lakes on our way onto the beach to the towering dunes of Sandwich harbour. A rollercoaster dune ride takes us up to the view point. Here we see the most stunning dune views and colour contrasts. A dune and game drive completes our drive. We search for Oryx, Springbuck or even Ostriches, we might see Seals and jackals on our way. The beautiful Dune views and exciting dune drive will create unforgettable memories and will be the absolute highlight of your Namibia Tour. We drive back along the beach and to your accommodation.

We arrive in Walvisbay at noon and join the afternoon Scenic Sandwich Harbor dune Drive tour, the tour takes us past the pink Flamingos and Salt lakes , along the beach to the towering dunes of Sandwich harbour. We go on a rollercoaster dune ride to the stunning Dune views of Sandwich Harbor. We stop high up in the dunes for the most awesome color contrasts between , blue sky, green sea and red dunes. We serve a light lunch with Beer and cold drinks and stunning dune views. Its unique its Awesome. The ride takes us through a game drive searching for what life the harsh desert harbors. This tour is unique and only offered by Desert Dunes and Dust tours and must be the absolute highlight of Namibia

This tour was amazing! We only had 48 hours in Namibia, and this allowed us to see all the best parts (as much as can be done in that time). The sights were incredible, the food was delicious, the accommodations were top-notch, and our guide Winton struck the perfect balance of information and levity without being overbearing. He was a good driver through tough conditions and a good companion to lead us when we didn't know what to do. I was hesitant with the steep price at first, but it was absolutely worth it. A few suggestions if you book it: wear closed-toes shoes, pack light, and prepare for a mild work out.

I was amazed what we were able to see during this two-day tour. We visited vast deserts, intimate canyons, and massive dunes—both inland AND along the coast. Also saw a surprising amount of wildlife along the way! All meals were provided and perfect for the situation. Guides purchased water and other snacks/drinks along the way as needed. (I really appreciated NOT getting nickle-and-dimed with random extra costs.) Charcuterie board picnic on the beach at Sandwich Bay was delightful. LOVED the overnight accommodations: great room, great food, great views. Winton and Garrett (sp?) were the perfect guides. They have extensive knowledge of the area and shared plenty of fascinating details about Namibia and the locations we visited—but not so much that it became exhausting. (We’ve had some guides in the past who literally never stop talking.) They were personable without prying—enjoyed their company the entire time. Random Advice: We stayed in Walvis Bay the nights before and after the tour (due to flight times from Cape Town). The waterfront area is cute and has a few good restaurants and bars, so is very pleasant to visit for a night! Two nights was a bit of an overkill, though, so we probably should have stayed one of those nights in Swakopmund instead. Long-story-short: I absolutely loved this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Totally worth the price. Thank you!!

During our week in Namibia I took two tours with the company and both were excellent. The first was the half-day Sandwich Harbor 4x4. Gerhard was the guide and the experience was incredible, a great driver and very carefu guidel. Our snack at the top of the dunes was delicious and the Atlantic Ocean in the other side was the perfect scenario. The company took care to ask in advance about dietary restrictions and to provide a special meal for me as I am allergic to seafood. The other tour was to Sossusvlei where we spent two nights. The guide was Vitor, a very cautious, kind, always concerned driver and an excellent guide. Good conversationalist, on various subjects. It was a pleasure to spend time with him. I highly recommend the company for its professionalism and quality.
