Bahir Dar is a beautiful lakeside town, and often the first stop on the historic north circuit of Ethiopia. Most people spend a night or two at Bahir Dar, giving you enough time to soak up the city and enjoy the scenery.
The most popular thing to do in Bahir Dar is the boat trip out on to Lake Tana, Ethiopia's largest lake. Lake Tana is home to a number of islands, and on these islands sit ancient monasteries with incredible frescoes and wall paintings.
Slightly outside of town is the Blue Nile Falls. Most impressive during the rainy season from June to September, the falls are the biggest on the Nile river system.

english follows Gashaw 帮我组织了Semien Mt 和 Bahir Dar 的团。虽然他本人没有作为我的导游(导游是另外一个叫Abiy的人) ,但他的组织协调能力很棒。价格很合理,反馈很及时。推荐~ Gashaw organized for me 2 tours ( 1 day Semien Mt tour and 2 days Blue Nile water fall / lake Tana ) , even he is the guide for me , his ability of organizing , quick response , and very reasonable price make me very happy. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing day exploring Lake Tana Monasteries with Tsehaynew! He expertly navigated us through the market and experience with local families in Ethiopia. We were unable to see the Blue Nile Fall because of the fear of conflicts in that area but bahir dar is totally Safe. Would love to see more of the country next time.

I had a pleasant time at Bahir Dar which is a beautiful city. I was able to see to visit Lake Tana Monastery and eat fresh fish, at the restaurant where you would see lots of pelicans. I also visited the Blue Nile waterfall which is certainly gorgeous. I proceed to Gonder and visit the castle, and camp at Simien Mountian.
