Set along the beautiful beaches of Torquay and Anglesea, this two-hour session blends ocean education, hands-on surf coaching, and plenty of fun. With our small, adult-only groups, you’ll receive personalised attention from experienced instructors who take the time to guide you through every step, from understanding surf conditions to mastering your first pop-up.

What To Expect
Discover the joy of surfing with Dawn Surf Co., an affiliated surf school with Surfing Victoria and a licensed Parks Victoria tour operator. Our Taster Surf Lesson is the perfect introduction for adults (Ages 18+) wanting to experience the ocean in a relaxed, supportive environment. Unlike large surf schools, we focus on quality over quantity. You’ll learn how to identify safe surfing zones, read waves, and build your confidence in the water, while our coaches offer tailored advice suited to your individual progress. We use premium surf gear (boards and wetsuits provided) and choose each day’s beach based on the best conditions: calm, crowd-free, and perfect for beginners. The session covers: • Ocean safety and awareness • Board control and balance • Pop-up techniques and stance • Wave reading and surf etiquette You’ll leave not only with a new skill but a deeper connection to the ocean and coastline that makes the Surf Coast one of Australia’s most iconic surf destinations.

5.00I was wondering how I should end 2025? Well, I came across Dawn Surf and a few hours later I was on the surfboard. Absolutely great decision! I really enjoyed it! Henry is a great instructor and beach over there is an amazing! This was the best surfing lesson I have ever had. I highly recommend it!

5.00I had a 2 hour beginner surf lesson with Henry, an excellent instructor! He gave us a warm up, safety info and instruction. We then tried in the waves! It was so fun and I managed to surf. Thanks for a great lesson :)

Knowledgable and friendly, patient and encouraging. I was standing up in my first lesson and can't wait to go back for another. Highly recommend!

5.00Henry was fantastic. I've done a handful of surf lessons in my time, but never really got the hang of it. Henry was incredible patient and super helpful with getting me up on the board! Can't wait to come back next time.
