Great Kayaking Experience on the Colorado River in Downtown Austin

5.00I had a good rental experience with Lady Bird Lake Rentals. Easy to book online at the last minute. Single kayak for $40 for 2 hours or $50 for all day. Includes life jacket and paddle. It was a short walk carrying the kayak from the rental location next to the Holiday Inn to get to the entry point on the river. In 2 1/2 hours, I was able to paddle from Lady Bird Lake, up the Colorado River to the entrance of Barton Creek and back. Great views of the downtown Austin skyline along the way. Amazing to have this much natural beauty in an urban setting. Beware if it is a windy day as it was when I kayaked. The return trip against the 20-30 mph winds made for a tough workout especially on the wider Lady Bird Lake.

5.00Had a great experience with Lady Bird Lake Rentals. The equipment was in excellent condition and the whole process was easy and relaxed, making it a perfect way to enjoy the water and skyline. Chase and Jack were especially helpful, friendly, and professional, taking the time to make sure everything was set up right and that we felt comfortable before heading out. Thanks to them, it was a smooth, memorable outing that I’d gladly recommend to anyone visiting Austin.
