What To Expect
Gutenberg Museum
In one of the world's oldest museum dedicated to books, printing and writing, you will enter the high-security vault and get a close-up view of the Gutenberg Bible printed around 1450 in Mainz. Understand the impact of this masterpiece by the "Man of the Millennium". Another highlight is the live printing demonstration; sit down for 15 minutes and see how letters were cast and how pages were printed nearly 600 years ago by Johannes Gutenberg in his local workshop. See beautiful historic printing presses and learn about the many different aspects of the first generation of printed books.
Mainzer Dom
For over a thousand years the mighty St. Martin's cathedral has towered over the ancient city of Mainz. Here kings have been crowned and the Protestant Reformation was kindled. Discover its many unique features, hear about its dramatic history and meet headless St. Alban in the cloisters.

5.00If I could give Judith more than 5 stars I would. Our walking tour of Mainz was perfect. Judith has a wealth of knowledge of Mainz and the local area. In a short time we learned so much of the rich history of the city and it’s landmarks (both obvious, like the cathedral, and obscure, like specific details about each of the buildings we passed). Judith made Mainz come alive through the ages for us. Judith gave us wonderful recommendations for dining and additional sites to see. This tour was beyond worth it. When visiting Germany again, we would love to tour with Judith again. Highly recommend!
