We started the experience, picking up travelers at Unicentro, a very traditional shopping center in Bogotá.
Our first destination is La Laguna De Guatavita, known worldwide for the legend of El Dorado.
Later we will go to the first wonder of Colombia, the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, we will enter the mine, in a guided tour by highly trained professionals to provide all the information about this emblematic place.
To end this great experience, we will celebrate with the best gastronomic experience in Bogotá, at the iconic Andrés Carne de Res restaurant, internationally recognized.
The Guatavita Lagoon is one of the most culturally attractive and important places in the country, with a history plagued by legends and incredible events. The Salt Cathedral is an architectural jewel of modernity and Andres Carne de Res is the most emblematic restaurant in Colombia.

Laguna de Guatavita
The lagoon was one of the most sacred of the Muiscas, since the ritual of investiture of the new Zipa (Cacique) was carried out there; According to legend, he was riding on a richly decorated reed raft; his body was covered entirely with powdered gold; At his feet they placed a large quantity of gold and emeralds for him to offer to the gods and lit braziers to burn a kind of incense called moque; The new dignitary was accompanied by four caciques and when the raft reached the center of the lagoon, the people on the banks threw gold objects and precious stones into the water.
Catedral De Sal
The Salt Cathedral is an enclosure built inside the salt mines of Zipaquirá, in the department of Cundinamarca, Colombia. The architectural and artistic design of the new Salt Cathedral, is typical of the Bogota architect Roswell Garavito Pearl, which was approved after the choice of the project that contained a total of 44 proposals in a contest called by the Colombian Society of Architects in 1990; while the technical engineering direction was executed by the Bogota engineer Jorge Enrique Castelblanco Reyes. Inside there is a rich artistic collection, especially salt and marble sculptures in an environment full of a deep religious sense that attracts tourists.

This is a day in your lives that will always be remembered. When our group of 4 Americans ( two 71's and two 65 year olds) meet our Guide, we knew from the start that this was going to be an adventure. Our guide CARLOS greeted us with a smile and attention that gave us the impression that we were the most important people in the van and that an adventure at hand was starting.. Off we went into the country and hills surrounding Bogota - all the time learning from Carlos a bit of history here and a bit of folk lore added. Our first stop was the Mountain Lake Guatavita. - The vista and experience to view this Wonder of Colombia will be a talk around a dinning table with friends that will be enjoyed by all. Up in the Mountains and then off to the depths of a salt mine, where a wonder of Faith is truly a marvel to behold. The Catedral de Sal de Zipaquire is a must for anyone who visits Colombia. Our final stop was dinner in Chia - just take our advice and listen to your guide, for to really enjoy this moment is to understand a little about how the Colombia People enjoy their free time and want to share these moments will everyone around. I want to take a moment to Thank Carlos for the Fantasic Time that he created for us, so as a wish for future Tour Takers- DO IT - The day is Long but a must for your memories of Colombia
