We did the 3 day guided walk in November. Our guide was lovely and the food provided at the lodges was great. We had a lengthy phone call with Wilsons before we decided to book discussing what all the different walking options were. We were assured that on the second day we could choose to just walk a section of the track. This all sounds lovely and the website states the same that there will be options. But the reality is very different. We had very heavy rain on day 2 so did not want to walk the whole distance. We were then informed that due to the tides you either had to choose to walk the whole day in the rain or get to the second lodge and spend the day there. Nobody had ever mentioned that there was a possibility of not being able to walk just a section. And to get to the lodge we had to wade in thigh deep water to get to a barge to take us to a boat which then took us to the lodge with more wading through water the other end. When we finally arrived at the lodge very cold and wet we were told that there was no hot water at that point. To me it seemed unreasonable not to turn the hot water on when they knew they had a large group of people arriving who would all be soaking wet. But our main issue was that our room did not have any hot water the whole time we were there and nobody seemed very interested in sorting it even tho I mentioned it several times. There was also practically no water at all coming out of the tap of our wash basin. They finally sent somebody in after we had all vacated our rooms at 9am the following day. He then very rudely informed me that yes there was a problem with the washbasin tap and that there was now hot water. A bit late as we were about to leave and presumably because everyone had vacated their rooms and weren’t using the hot water we finally had some in our room. Despite filling out a feedback form and asking for someone to contact us no one did. We then emailed Wilson’s with our issues and had a reply from someone called Sandra who said she would investigate and get back to us but never has despite me following up. A word of advice to anyone booking with this company - the walk is not necessarily going to work out as described on the website but they won’t tell you that and if you have any issues they won’t listen.

Overall I would say this was a great experience. We were given duffle bags and plastic liners the day prior to the trip to pack our things in. They have day packs to borrow if you don't have your own. There is a (free) safe place to leave your car if needed. They have lock and key storage in their office for luggage you're not taking along. The boat ride out to the starting point (hiking north to south) was smooth and the narrative was informative. The trail itself is spectacular with unbelievable scenery. We lucked out on weather, having 3 almost perfect days for hiking. The accommodations were fantastic. The food was abundant and exceeded my expectations in quality. Paddy, the guide, was great. He added interesting facts and shared some fun stories. He also carried supplies to treat us to coffee or tea at a couple stops along the trail. At the beginning of the trip, we were provided our own metal cup to use for these special wilderness cafe breaks. It was nice to have our bags delivered to the lodges each night, so we only needed to carry day packs. The trip is well thought out and seamlessly executed. The only minor issue (which worked out fine in the end) was I booked as a solo traveler. The price does say "pp twin share". However, the website allowed payment and did not mention at checkout paying extra or that there was a chance I'd be bunked with a stranger. I was notified of this after the paid booking and given the option to pay an additional $600 for the 2 nights of accommodation to guarantee unshared quarters. Turns out I was the only solo, but even 1 day before my trip when they knew I was booked as the only solo, I was still called and asked if I wanted to pay the extra to be sure I had my own room. I know they are a for profit business, but that part was a little disappointing. Still 5 star review, though.
