In the early morning we pick you at your accomodation in Maun or Ghanzi or Gweta and in a 4x4 safari vehicle we head to CKGR where the camp is set up in the Deception Valley. During and shortly after good summer rains (September to January), the flat grasslands of the reserve’s northern reaches teem with wildlife, which gather at the best grazing areas. These include springbok and gemsbok, as well as wildebeest, hartebeest, eland and giraffe. At other times of the year, when the animals are more sparsely distributed, the experience of travelling through truly untouched wilderness, of seemingly unending dimensions, is amazing. Upon arrival in the Kalahari you start your gameviewing on your transfer game drive with a picnic lunch in the bush. Enjoy the sunset within the Deception Valley. Upon arrival to the camp, you enjoy a hot camp shower before dinner. Afterwards you can relax around the campfire.

Rise and shine and say hello to a fresh morning over coffee/tea and rusks for an early morning game drive to Sunday Pan waterhole, and have brunch at Passarge Valley. Under the dense umbrella thorn Acacia tortillis thickets cheetah and lion rest up in the mid-day heat. CKGR boasts an amazing variety of birds, believe: Secretary bird, Kori Bustard and Ostrich are the most prominent of the species to be spotted, with good chances of seeing Lapped-faced Vulture and White-backed Vulture too. We will continue to explore this amazing landscape in search of its beauties. Our final leg of the morning drive will take us back through Leopard Pan to arrive at camp for lunch and enjoy an afternoon siesta. After a well deserved rest we will depart for an evening game drive to Deception Pan where we will enjoy a great sunset. Once the sun goes down we will head back to camp.

Rise and shine and say hello to a fresh early morning over coffee/tea and light breakfast! We will head out for a game drive at the crack of dawn with the hopes of spotting cheetah, a resident pride of lion or several leopards whose territories include parts of the pan. We maximise on the last gamedrive in the Kalahari on the way back to civilisation and have a last picnic lunch in the bush before heading back to Maun. The reserve might have little farewell surprises as we drive back “home” so keep those cameras ready to capture the last memories of the Kalahari. We will enjoy the drive as we continue our learning about this reserve and its beauties, mostly very unique. We anticipate to arrive in Maun mid afternoon, depending on what we spot along the way.

One word: wow. From the minute we enquired to the minute we got home we had an incredible experience with Kalahari Breeze. This was a reasonably last minute decision with a friend and it turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life. Maria couldn’t have done enough to help with the organisation, and it was a joy that she decided to come along for the trip too. Not only did we have some amazing sightings of animals, they also came at no cost to the animal. Maria and our amazing guide & driver Clifford ensured that at all times we gave the animals space and respect, which actually led to more meaningful sightings. Cliff was so knowledgable of the animals and the landscape and I learned so much from him. He was also an incredible driver! The camp team of OG, Machana and Craig were so welcoming and we felt so well looked after and almost pampered which I wasn’t expecting in a camp in the middle of the bush! The food was delicious and varied, they catered for dietary requirements and everything was served with fun and a smile. For those who are hesitant of camping, this would honestly be a really good first step into being more adventurous, as everything is thought of and it’s a good mix of being in the middle of no where but with some creature comforts! At all times the team made us feel safe, supported and cared for. I can’t wait to come back to Botswana and book onto another tour with Kalahari Breeze.

If you want to see a different side of Botswana's landscape, this is the place to be. The Kalahari is absolutely stunning and having a good guide with you makes it even better. Not only the guide is excellent, but also the cook. After an exciting day with all kinds of animal sightings, they have a three-course meal in the evening, which I never expected to have on a camping trip. Afterwards, you sit together around the campfire and the guide tells you something about the stars. The service in general was amazing! To keep the guests warm they even provide besides blankets, hot water bottles for the game drives and for the night (It can get quite cold in the Kalahari). Highly recommended!
