Famous for its ultimate gorilla experience, this park is home to half of the world’s mountain gorillas – roughly 459 in total. Bwindi Impenetrable national park sits in the Southwestern part of Uganda along the Albertine rift valley and on the border with DRC.
It has a hilly terrain covered with tropical rainforest, which along with this park’s closeness to the equator, causes it to have a wet climate throughout the year as it receives lots of rain, although it tends to rain less in June and July. It’s therefore advisable to come with waterproof clothes and hiking boots to track gorillas in Bwindi.
Tracking gorillas in Bwindi’s rainforest is an exciting lifetime adventure that can have you trudging up and down hilly terrains and across streams to find the endangered primates. This expedition may take an hour if you’re lucky or even last up to 8 hours, depending on where the gorillas are camping.

Herbert arranged a fantastic safari for our family of four. Starting with an early pick up from our hotel in Entebbe, a day en route via Masaka to the equator, a day in Kabale at the famous Ishasha gorilla section to track these gentle giants, and finally drop off at Entebbe Airport for our flight home, everything worked perfectly and exactly on time. Herbert was in contact beforehand and throughout to make sure everything was fine. We stayed at three very different lodges as recommended by Herbert, each great in its way. The vehicle was comfortable, well-equipped, and maintained. However, most credit should go to our guide, Dalson. He had great knowledge and understanding of the environment and fantastic enthusiasm to share this with us to show us the best of the spectacular landscape and animals. But more importantly, Dalson was simply an amazing person: helpful, friendly, considerate, and reliable. By some distance, we all agreed this was the most enjoyable four days we had ever spent on holiday as a family. It is not the most important factor but, whilst a safari is never cheap, by booking directly with Weitz Safaris, the cost was less than half what a UK travel agent quoted for the same trip. I genuinely cannot think of anything I would change.

A lovely guys weekend to behold. The gorilla tracking was actually Billy's idea, my God, the best experience I have had in a couple of years. The small different experiences like bird watching as you track are worthwhile. And an great guide like Dalson makes everything so much better. Thank you so much Weitz Safaris. Till our next trip because you are my tour guides now

My fiancee and I visited Bwindi National Park to encounter the gorillas. Our guide, Dalson was such a cool guy. He was so knowledgeable and ensured we got the best experience. The gorillas are magical. The only challenge is you have to track for hours before you get to them. Otherwise, it's a splendid experience.
