My boyfriend and I went on a 3-day trek into the Sahara desert from Douz over New Year's Eve. Our goal was a silent, relaxing start to 2025 close to nature. All of our expectations were fulfilled. Everything was perfectly planned and executed. The food was amazing, and the accommodation was nice and exactly what you would expect. However, the success of the entire tour depends on your guide. We were lucky to have Amir. He is a young Bedouin who is one of the few people who still lives as a true nomad. You can sense his love for the Sahara. He shared many stories about his passion for the desert and his dedication to preserving it. Unlike some other guides, Amir treats his camels like his own children. While some guides treat their animals poorly (even hitting them). Amir's gentle care for his camels was wonderful to witness. This was extremely important to us, as we wanted our vacation to be as sustainable as possible. If you're planning a similar trip, ask for Amir - he's the best choice you can make.

The trip was absolutely stunning: endlessly beautiful landscape, well behaved camels with character, amazing food and above all the best guide we could wish for. I can only recommend and will come back for a longer trek in the desert with Ahmed. Everything was well organized, the camels looked healthy and well taken care of.

The camel rides were magnificent, our camel driver was dedicated, attentive and friendly, he was known to all the Berber camel drivers and shepherds. The tent, bed and blankets were perfect. However, for the price we paid we expected to have a guide, our camel driver spoke neither French nor English. For meals, we would have appreciated a greater variety of fruits for dessert and breakfast, dates in the Douz region would have been appropriate. Last points, the manager was not always easy to reach and we did not find towels for the shower.

This is a great experience for anyone wanting to see another side of life in Tunisia. The camels are very cool and friendly. My guide, Mohammed, was great and made the trip unforgettable. Overall tour is very easy to arrange, you get started immediately from pickup. The camp site is great - very good food and refreshments, nice setup with kitchen, restaurant, tents, area for fire and socializing etc. I would personally suggest the 3-day trek over the 2 day as you are guaranteed one full day in the Sahara.
