Laguna Colorada
The journey continues deeper into the Altiplano with a visit to the remarkable Laguna Colorada, one of the most extraordinary natural highlights of the region. This striking red-hued lagoon, shaped by minerals and algae, is the principal nesting site of pink flamingos, creating a truly mesmerizing scene where hundreds of these elegant birds gather against a backdrop of vast silence and Andean landscapes. Here, you will have time to walk along the shores, observe the flamingos in their natural habitat, and take in the unique colors that change with the light — from deep crimson tones to soft reflections on the water. It is a moment of calm, beauty, and connection with nature — one of those rare places where the scenery feels almost otherworldly.
Geiser Sol de la Manana
the journey continues toward the impressive Sol de Mañana Geysers, one of the most fascinating geothermal areas in the region. Arriving at dawn, when the activity is at its peak, you will witness a dramatic landscape of steaming fumaroles, bubbling mud pools, and rising geysers reaching several meters into the crisp Andean air. The contrast between the cold morning temperatures and the powerful geothermal energy creates an almost surreal atmosphere. As the first light of day illuminates the high-altitude desert, you will have the opportunity to walk carefully through this natural geothermal field, observing the raw forces of the Earth in motion. This is a truly unique moment of the expedition — intense, remote, and unforgettable — offering a rare glimpse into one of the most active volcanic regions of the Altiplano.
Aguas Termales De Polques
The journey continues with a relaxing stop at the serene Polques Hot Springs, nestled in the heart of the Andean Altiplano. Surrounded by vast open landscapes and views of snow-capped volcanoes, these natural thermal waters offer a perfect moment to unwind after the early morning exploration. The warm, mineral-rich pools contrast beautifully with the crisp mountain air, creating a deeply soothing and revitalizing experience. You will have time to enjoy the thermal baths at your own pace — whether immersing yourself in the calming waters or simply taking in the silence and purity of this remote setting. This stop provides a unique balance to the journey: a moment of comfort and relaxation in one of the most untouched and scenic environments of Bolivia.
Uyuni
Following this extraordinary journey through the Altiplano, we begin the scenic return to Uyuni. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to observe the unique wildlife of the region, including herds of llama and graceful vicuña, roaming freely across the vast highland plains. These peaceful encounters add a final touch of authenticity to the experience, connecting you even more deeply with the spirit of the Andes. As the landscapes slowly transition back toward Uyuni, you can relax and reflect on the incredible diversity of scenery experienced throughout the journey. Arrival in Uyuni is scheduled at approximately 6:00 pm, marking the end of a truly unforgettable expedition.

I book last minute, and I have done this several times in the past. This time it bite in the butt. I received a confirmation email, time of pick up, was charged $1999.00. The normal routine with Viator. I was booked with the local tour group “Joker Expedition,Bolivia.” Woke up early because my pickup time was 6:30 am. I was down stairs by 6:15. Then 6:35 comes around. I send Joker Expedition a text through the app. No response. I call at 6:45, no answer. I send another text at 6:50, I was curious if the pickup time was wrong. No response. I call again at 7, no answer. At 7:11 I start texting with Viator about the tour. They told me to try to call again after a brief pause in communication. I call and he answers the phone and tells me it was canceled yesterday. I asked why didn’t he tell me, he said he couldn’t find decent flights so he canceled the trip. Again, I asked why he didn’t tell me. He said don’t worry we will get your money back. Joker failed to realize if he had taken 2 minutes out of his day to text, email or call, I could have book with another agency or with my hotel. Now I’m stuck waiting for my refund and struggle to find other plans for my trip. Courtesy goes a long way with people. I lost time, trust in Viator, and now I’m struggling to to find someone help continue this dream vacation. I will admit this is about 50% my fault but the lack of transparency and communication from Joker Expedition truly left me out in the cold.

This was a wonderful trip! Everything was perfect! The tour organizers was I. Touch by WhatsApp making everything so easy. Logistics went perfectly. Our guide, Oskar, was very well informed and really smart, knowing everything about the geography, native animals and even the constellations. We highly recommend Oskar to anyone going on this experience. Though this is a more pricey experience, everything is taken care of for you. This was so worth it, and honestly, you get so much for the money!

Our guide and driver were so amazing. We loved them. The landscape is incredible. The salt flats are something you absolutely have to see. Our guide was great in setting up some fun perspective photos for us. Definitely my favorite photos from our entire South America trip. We enjoyed the sites in the salt flats and had a great lunch near one of the little islands. The description of our tour included flights to and from Uyuni. About a week out we were contacted and told they weren’t running a return flight from Uyuni to La Paz and we could stay in Uyuni one more night or be driven back to the city. We chose to be driven back as we had things booked the next day. During the first day of our tour it felt like we were constantly running behind though I don’t really know how. It was a really fun day but most of it was spent in the car and we were all feeling pretty stiff and tired. We got a little overwhelmed about the next day being mostly in a car as well plus a 6 hour drive back to La Paz. We decided to cut the tour short and just head back in the morning. Our guide and driver were amazing about this. We appreciated their understanding and accommodation. I 10/10 recommend booking with this tour operation but I think you need 3 days minimum. You can’t really do this tour in 2.

Private, all inclusive tour! Everything was covered - fights, taxis, meals. Our tour guide Israel was the best, very knowledgeable and we enjoyed chatting during the driving.

The whole organization was perfect. Pick-up at the airport, hotel accommodation, meals, everything was perfect. The two days were very intensive with a strict program. If you have more time, you should add an extra day. The salt desert, the lagoons, the overnight stay in the desert hotel, the hot springs and the still detectable volcanic activity were incredibly beautiful experiences. The highlights for us were the lunch in the salt desert for ourselves and the desert hotel at 4600m. It is tightly organized but the landscapes are simply breathtakingly beautiful. Our guide Oscar knew the answers to all questions and was also able to explain scientific derailments. In Iyuni we had a beautiful room in the Atipax Hotel and a delicious breakfast and dinner.

Beautiful place! I loved the mirror effect that is formed with water. It is advisable to go during the rainy season and also visit the Salar at night to see the sky and the stars.
