Errachidia

The Ziz River is a well-known river in eastern Morocco. It originates in the High Atlas Mountains near Midelt and extends for about 280 km, reaching Errachidia and Tafilalet. The river nourishes important oases (such as the Tafilalet Oasis) and has major dams built on it, like the Hassan Addakhil Dam, which provides water for drinking and agriculture. Historically, the Ziz River was an essential passage for trade caravans linking northern Morocco with the Sahara Desert The Ziz Valley played a major role in Morocco's trade history, especially with ancient caravans: • Caravans coming from northern Morocco or from Fez would pass through Midelt and follow the Ziz Valley to reach the south. • This route reached the Tafilalt oases, known as one of the largest oases in the world. • From Tafilalt, caravans continued toward the Sahara Desert, and from there, they traveled to Mali, Niger, and exchanging salt, gold, and dates.

Outstanding Three-Day Tour! Our three-day tour through Morocco was truly exceptional and far beyond our expectations. We had an unforgettable experience exploring this beautiful country with Aimed, our driver and guide. From the very beginning, he welcomed us with genuine warmth and professionalism, instantly making us feel comfortable and at home. Aimed impressed us with his deep knowledge of Morocco’s history, culture, and landscapes, which he shared with great enthusiasm and passion. His friendliness, kindness, and sense of humor made every day of the journey both enjoyable and enriching. What stood out the most was the way he connected with our children. He was patient, engaging, and truly attentive to them, making sure they were always happy, safe, and entertained. It was clear that he cared deeply about creating wonderful memories for the whole family. Aimed was always ready to accommodate every request we had — no matter how small — and he did so with a smile and genuine willingness to please. Thanks to his dedication and flexibility, the entire trip felt effortless and perfectly tailored to us. We cannot recommend this tour — and especially Aimed — highly enough. It was a perfect combination of adventure, comfort, and authentic Moroccan hospitality that we will remember for a lifetime.

Our driver Amen is so responsible, nice and funny. He answered all of our questions and took us to where we want to go in the middle of the drive. Although the tent we stayed in the dessert was not that good (shower without the hot water) and the camel ride was too rush that we couldn't get the time to take photos of us in side the dessert, the overall experience was nice.

The driver, Mr. Aimad, was very helpful. It was a small tour, so they customized it in a lot of ways, and if you ask them any questions, they explain. We were able to tour comfortably without the pressure of a souvenir shop. There are no guides in particular during the tour, so you can stroll freely, and there are attendants at campgrounds and at strategic points. The tour is safe, but there are many customers getting on and off along the way, as they ride with other destination tour-goers.

Really fun trip but you will spend a lot of time in the car so it’s important to have a good driver. Our driver Aimad, was great and one of the best drivers I’ve seen in Morocco. I felt very safe with him the whole time and he always accommodated to our needs. First day we saw monkeys in the mountains and ended with a camel ride and staying at the very nice camp by the sand dunes. The next day we stopped many times to take pictures and see the gorge but this day was mostly spent in the car. The last day we went to the famous town, Aït Benhaddou which was beautiful and I got some good souvenirs from there. We also passed the beautiful Atlas mountains and got to see how argan oil was made. Highly recommend to people to do this trek if they are already planning on traveling from Fes to Marrakech.

Ahmed offers a good tour for the price it offers. He picks you up where you tell him and returns you to where you tell him too. The camp is fine, the camel ride along the dunes is a spectacular view at sunset and at sunrise, dinner is pretty good and you fill up with food, drinks are not included. At night the drum music is good and fun. The view of the desert at night is spectacular.

Unmissable experience. It was really nice to see the desert and sleep in the dunes. The atmosphere of the camp was very welcoming and comfortable. Special thanks to Aimed who accompanied us from Merzouga to Fes. A very kind and helpful guy, attentive to everyone's needs. He told us about the territory during the trip. A pleasant discovery. The desert experience has been amazing. What really made her special has been counting on Imad as a guide. He's a very close person and one you laugh with a lot. It also explains the various stops. Nice to meet people like that. Thank you so much for everything. Highly recommended. We'll be back.
