Maasai Mara National Reserve

(We offer complimentary airport pick up for all our guests arriving by flight in the morning of Day 1 - pick up time will be at 6am from the airport to the departure point in Nairobi city) Pick up from your hotel or airport and commence the drive to Masai Mara via the great rift valley view point where you will have a breathtaking view of the floor of the rift valley. You will arrive in time for lunch. In the afternoon after you check in depart for a game viewing drive in the Mara Reserve. Return back to the camp for a sumptuous buffet dinner ending with good time for resting at your preferred lodge/camp.

You will have a stop over at the Great Rift Valley point, Mai Mahiu Road, where you will have a breaking view of the floor of the rift valley. The rift valley system was formed 5 million years ago and the rift runs from the red sea through Ethiopia and Kenya and Tanzania. The rift valley is an active volcanic area and has some of the most interesting features including more than 8 lakes, dormant and active volcanic mountains and hotsprings and geysers like the Olkaria geothermal wells and Lake Bogoria geysers. You can actually see the volcanic Mt Suswa and Mt Longonot from this high place with their evergreen craters and the undulating green rift valley floor. The view from here is just amazing. Its regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife Viewing areas. The annual wildebeest’s migration alone involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in July and departing in November. Hardly can a visitor miss to spot the big five. The phenomenal wildebeest migration which is a spectacular event only seen in Masai Mara is the wonder of the world. Optional: In the evening, Visit the local Masai village for a Masai cultural tour at USD 20. Learn about the Masai community and interact with the local Masai people. Overnight at the Masai village can be organized upon request. A balloon safari at USD 380 per person can be organized early morning on this day then proceed with the normal program. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place: the great migration. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (in Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna – lions, cheetahs, jackals, hyenas and vultures.
