Okavango Delta
Our safari starts in the tourist town of Maun, we have a welcome briefing before we head out on our next adventure. Depending on your itinerary we either have lunch at our base camp or a packed lunch on the way. The Okavango Delta is recently designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the mid-afternoon we arrive at our mobile tented camp situated in the heart of the Okavango. Dependent on water levels we may travel via Mokoro (Traditional Dug-Out Canoe) or drive into the camp. On arrival you will meet the local staff who will be your host during your stay. A brief introduction to the camp will show your dome tent with twin beds and a bush en-suite bathroom – long drop toilet and a bucket shower. Relax in the mess tent with a cold drink or take a paddle in the lagoon in a canoe.

Okavango Delta
Up before the sun, you set out on foot, to explore the area once again in search of game. Meet other guests at the mess for breakfast then take a Mokoro to explore further. Take time to catch up on your reading or view the birdlife from the mess tent. Lunch is normally served at around 13h00. After lunch, time is yours to relax or have a go at poling the mokoro’s or ask the guides to find a swim spot for you before the afternoon outing. At about 3 pm you will be offered afternoon tea, before the activities commence. Return to camp in the late afternoon for a sundowner while your dinner is being prepared. During the evening your hosts can be encouraged to share stories around the fire of their lives and lands. Be prepared if your Botswana hosts put on a song for you they will be expect one in return! As the evening draws to a close lay back and listen to the music of life – the sounds of the African bush!

Being in a Mokoro in the narrow channels, seeing so many elephants, giraffes, funny pumas, being in a shady campsite, having nice company, trusting your experienced guide, having plenty of nice food prepared by a smiling cook. All made my experience in the Delta a memorable one!

My colleague joined me for a 3 day camping safari to the Delta. This was her first trip to Africa and my first to the Delta. The whole trip was incredible. The bush hikes were the best part of the trip. Our guide, Phillip, is very knowledgeable and we learnt so much from him. Our Polers - Teddy and Legos (for the Mokoros) - were great fun, and our cook, Machine, made sure we were never hungry with his delicious meals. The views and the animals were, of course, spectacular.

A most enjoyable relaxing but at the same time exciting adventure in the most serene of places. Wildlife abounds. Guide Phil was very professional and his knowledge and skill was evident. Camp facilities were comfortable and food freshly prepared by chef added to experience. Saw, too close, my first ever lioness in the wild on a early morning nature walk. Adrenaline rush!

All arrangements were provided on time and professionally . The accommodation in tented camps with beds and toilet facilities were of a high standard . The meals were excellent given the circumstances ie 40 degree heat .

We had a great experience with Outdoor African Safaris in their 3 day tour to the Okavango Delta. The communication beforehand was well organised and they were very responsive. One suggestion would be to make the last day slightly longer as it was more of a 2 days and a morning instead of 3 days.
