What To Expect
Hope on to make a three hour journey to greek cuisine! In this walking tour we are going to discover what greeks love to eat in their everyday life. Feta cheese, savory pies or sweet bougatsa, pita with gyros, skewer or soutzouki, maybe some fruits on the way or some olives when the central market is open. Also we 'll try Greek coffee and Greek wine or beer and discuss sports like a true local! We will meet at Athens most multicultural sq., the Omonoia sq, where we can start our tour towards the commercial area of Athens. Walking through the busy streets of the city we’ll reach the Central Food Market where we can taste some of my favorite Greek nuts and a spirit called tsipouro and after that we will enter the meat and fish market (on Sundays it’s closed but doesn’t affect the tour). While visiting Greece you must definitely try meze (similar to tapas) so that would be our next stop. We will stroll around Psirri’s narrow streets, an area that we really like to go out and have a Greek coffee discussing all about Greek coffee culture. Through Psirri we will reach another vibrant area where we will taste the amazing honeyballs!!!

5.00This private food tasting tour was absolutely fantastic. Voula was an incredibly friendly guide and was very interesting to talk throughout the tour. She took me to several different locations in the centre of Athens where we enjoyed traditional Greek coffee, mezze, pastries, nuts, liqueurs and the delightful loukoumades. Throughout the tour, Voula explained the history and traditions behind all the foods and drinks we tasted, as well as explaining the history of the local area. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Athens!

The places she took us to served delicious food. Voula’s pace throughout the tour was perfect. We had the perfect amount of time at each stop. She taught us about so much more than just food. We learned history and culture, too. This was especially valuable because her tour was the first thing we planned after arriving in Athens at the beginning of our stay. 5.00If you want to experience Athens beyond the ruins, this food tour is a must. Led by our friendly and knowledgeable guide, Voula, the tour took us through local markets, hidden bakeries, and traditional meze places we’d never have found on our own. We started with a strong Greek coffee and koulouri, then sampled spanakopita, loukoumades, local cheeses, olives, and even had an olive oil tasting. Every stop came with fascinating stories about Greek culture and culinary traditions, making the experience both delicious and educational.

5.00I really enjoyed my walk in downtown Athens, and I tasted everything from souvlaki and feta to pistachios from Aegina (fystiki aiginis). Voula took me to several little shops selling Greek specialties.
