  I had booked a walking tour with Saeed, but I had to change the date of my trip to Tangier at the last minute. Saeed was not available on the new date but arranged a tour with his coworker Soukaina, and she was fabulous. I had such a great time walking around Tangier with her and seeing the city through her eyes - it was like hanging out with a friend for the day. She seemed to know people everywhere, and we stopped at a few shops only when I specifically wanted to buy things. And while I didn't get to meet Saeed, he still arranged for a taxi from the ferry port to my hotel and gave me restaurant recommendations near my hotel. I will definitely reach out again if I'm back in Tangier!

• An Unforgettable, Deeply Personal Tour of Tangier

  We arrived in Tangier with almost no planning and very little time. On a whim, I reached out to Said Madani just 24 hours in advance, not expecting a miracle. To my surprise, he responded almost instantly, coordinated a hotel pickup, and crafted a perfect 4-hour itinerary. Said exudes warmth and hospitality from the moment you meet him. We navigated the winding alleys of the Kasbah and Medina while he provided rich historical context. What truly set Said apart, however, was his intuition. When I mentioned my Jewish heritage, he immediately adapted the tour to include the old Jewish quarter and the synagogue museum. Learning about the history of Muslims and Jews living as neighbors in Tangier was incredibly moving, and I felt that same sense of camaraderie with Said himself. He also took us to vetted local shops that were respectful and low-pressure—a huge plus in a bustling city. If you are in Morocco, do yourself a favor and book Said. He doesn’t just give tours; he creates lifelong memories.

  This was an amazing tour. I was able to learn so much and immerse myself in the culture, and grasp the history. His energy was delightful, and I will be looking to go back soon.

  Look no further! As experienced world travelers (slow traveled 34 countries), my husband and I almost always do our own self-guided tours (relying on research and Rick Steve's suggestions when in Europe). Our typical stay in any place is usually at least a week, but we were limited to two days for Morocco. Upon arrival to Tangier, we made a spontaneous decision to get a local guide and our hotel suggested Said. Fortunately, he had availability! He met us at our hotel the following morning and we proceeded to meander the narrow and convoluted passageways of the old town. In half a day, we we were able to cover key Tangier sites including the Medina and the Kasbah, a museum, and a cafe stop for mint tea (with a nice view), concluding with a delightful and inexpensive lunch (we paid for out of pocket) at a local's spot. (BTW - Said allows for short periods of private time and did not join us for lunch, but returned to pick us up when we were done.) All enjoyed stress-free. Said has an easy going and pleasant personality. I especially appreciated his knowledge of culture and history which he weaves seamlessly into the tour. Said's English is excellent. He was also flexible and asked for our personal preferences. Highly recommended.

  What a wonderful experience in Tangier! Taking this family tour was a very wise decision. We take away indelible memories of the vibrant culture and unique experiences we live. Our guide was exceptional; his passion for sharing the history and secrets of Tangier was evident and contagious. His knowledge brought every corner to life. Tangier is a city that will surprise you with its charm and authenticity. The warmth and professionalism of our guide were essential to feel safe and well taken care of at all times. His kindness transcended the role of guide, making us feel as if we were exploring the city with a local friend. A highly recommended experience! Thank you so much.

  My family and I had a fantastic tour around Tangier with Saeed. It was a great introduction to a fantastic city. Saeed was really knowledgeable about the city and its history. He made us feel very welcome and safe in a place that can be initially a bit overwhelming when you first experience the hustle and bustle of Tangier. We were on cruise and Saeed met us immediately outside the port. His communication was great and everything was very well organised. Tangier was one of our favourite destinations and I think this was down to our new friend in Morocco - Saeed!

  Simply a very special experience. My family and l are very happy to have taken the tour and to have met Saeed. He is a kind and pleasant person who makes you feel comfortable, takes his time, and ensures you feel at safe. I would definitely return and take another tour with Saeed.

  Saeed was the most amazing host and guide - thoughtful, funny, caring and considerate of the needs of our family group, especially bearing in mind that we had a toddler in a push chair. He also spent a good deal of time taking us to wonderful market locations to buy freshly-made ras-el-hanout and beautiful pottery handicrafts. It was also fantastic to see the Kaabah and the old town. Saeed’s historical knowledge is second to none and he is a magical storyteller. I am certain that he will write a wonderful book about Morocco which I know h aims to do. The highlights of the tour though were the fantastic lunch we had and the tea break at the cinema where we could people-watch and take in the lovely weather while eating delicious Moroccan pastries. Saeed gave us so much of his time and we are so grateful to him, even thoughtfully arranging a minivan back to our cruise ship. This is a tour for everyone and there is simply no better guide for this fascinating city.
