The most unique aspect of this tour is that it takes you off the beaten path. These paths are originally created by wild animals, and following them gives us a true sense of the wilderness. There is a high likelihood of encountering wild animals along the way. If there is enough snow, we will use snowshoes, allowing us to walk anywhere on the snow. Sometimes, you can even spot the footprints of animals on the surface of the snow.

What To Expect

This tour explores the primeval forests of Shiretoko using snowshoes, and takes you beyond the usual paths. We will guide you to one of the hidden waterfalls, “Tears of Man”, which freezes in winter. When the sea ice arrives at the coast, a vast field of ice appears covering the Sea of Okhotsk and creates a breathtaking landscape along with the Shiretoko Mountains tapped by silver-white snows. This tour often sees wildlife such as Ezo Sika Deer and Ezo Red Foxes.

Thanks Yumi for guiding us in the forest today! She is very enthusiastic and we had a very great time. The scenery is very beautiful and it was fantastic to walk in the forest. We learnt a lot of the forest today, and luckily we saw a male deer and some footprints of bears.

We booked the private snowshoeing tour in Shiretoko National Park, and it turned out to be one of the most unforgettable experiences of our lives. From the start, our guide Mako was warm, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable about the local wildlife and surroundings—we learned so much while completely immersed in nature. The scenery was so serene. But what made this tour truly magical was that my fiancé proposed during the hike. It was a beautiful, intimate moment in the most beautiful setting. Our guide handled it with such grace, giving us space to enjoy the moment while also helping us capture a few photos we’ll cherish forever. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a meaningful adventure in nature!

Unfortunately, we didn't meet any rare wildlife, but we managed to capture some of the best videos ever. A foreigner came on the same tour and listened to the guide's easy-to-understand and concise English explanation and both me and my son studied. It was snowing a little bit, but I was very glad to participate. I think it's great to be able to borrow various things and go empty-handed. I was really lucky to find and book two days before the tour.

The trek was fantastic! Mark the tour guide was the best, so informative and very patient. The walk wasn’t too challenging. I definitely recommend making the trip up north and going on the tour!!

The view was amazing and our tour guide, Sannigo, was very knowledgeable and explained about the shireitoko ecosystem. We managed to see a lot of deers and had fun walking using the snow shoes.

We had a wonderful tour with very knowledgeable guide Yuki. The forest itinerary had a lot of variety and the final viewpoint looking out at the sea of Okhotsk and Shiretoko summits was breathtaking. We were able to observe deers, birds and other species closely with the supplied binoculars and we learned a lot about the local ecosystem. Highly recommend!! Bundle up if you are going in the winter.

We had a great time with our guide Yuki. We were able to observe wild deer very closely, it was magical. We were hoping for snow, but it was too early in the season. It was raining, and yet the experience of walking in the forest was still very pleasant. Yuki is great, showed us and explained things. I recommend this activity!
