I booked the 4 day tour Thurs to Sun. Before making the booking, I made sure that it was not going to be a problem returning to the airport to catch my flight out of Windhoek at 2:30 pm. When I checked into the office that morning. They told me there was an issue with getting me back in time for my flight so I would have to pay for a private transfer at 6 am Sunday morning and the cost was 5500 NAD. I was shocked that they made the error and expected me to cover that cost while pulling me out early and losing the last day's activity. but the manager told me they will cover that cost and just enjoy the tour. So day 1 begins. The driver said it was just a transfer to Swakopmund. He said that when I arrive I can join a tour to see Walvis Bay and sand board down the dunes. After I agreed to joining the tour for the next day, then he told me that i didn't need to go to Walvis Bay that day because i will see it tomorrow. He never told me I was supposed to see it with him along with a few other stops. I felt he was deceitful in selling that tour so he didn't have to do it. Then I get a message asking me if I would prefer to leave Sat afternoon at 1 pm instead of Sunday morning at 6 am. There was another person in the group leaving at that time, so I agreed to save them from having another driver for myself. They said they will put me in a hotel for Sat night. So I agreed. Day 2 started with the added tour that I paid for. Then my actual tour guide drove us to Solitaire and the camp in Sossusvlei. We went to see the canyon that evening before dinner. Day 3 was an early start to see Deadvlei. We didn't get a chance to climb Big Daddy because we were short on time to make the return trip to windhoek. I didn't get a chance to see the cheetahs, so there were a few things missed on my 4 day tour which basically became 1 and half day tour. The transfer was on a regular shuttle van. Did not get the personal driver I thought I was sharing with the other person. Not very impressed!

This is an amazing adventure. The accommodations, while fairly basic, check off all of the necessary boxes. Their transportation, from the helpful airport pickups and returns, the hotel pickups and the safari van all exceeded my expectations. We booked the optional 4X4 SUV trip over the beaches and dunes of Swokopmund and it was awesome. The travel down to Sossusvlei was a bit bone jarring over the unpaved roads, but the time spent on the great dunes was worth every bump. The facilities at Desert Camp were good and the food choices at the nearby Sossusvlei Lodge were outstanding. I would highly recommend this trip, but would stress with tour leader the need to more clearly communicate details. There were a number of times that he, Gregory, left details out and created lots of confusion.

An unforgettable experience. Tour is very well organized, great food and accommodation. The Sossusvlei experience is not to be missed- make sure you climb Big Daddy dune, you will not regret it as it's truly spectacular. Our guide/driver/cook Simon (Panduleni) is the very best, so knowledgeable, caring for all of us individually, and always in the best of moods. Thank you Simon, and my fellow travelers, for a fantastic time!

Did the 4 days 3 nights Swakopmund & Sossusvlei Adventure Lodge Safari with Chameleon Safari. Everyone from the front office (Emgard) to the driver (Anton) and guide (Simon) were friendly , helpful , responsive and ensuring we are well taken care of . The only suggestion I would have is for the company to include a sandwich harbor afternoon / morning tour instead of free time in Swakopmund. No offense to the dunes in Sossusvlei but visiting Sandwich Harbour (especially during sunset) is the most magical and unforgettable experience!

My partner and I did the 4 day trip with Chameleon Safaris to the Namib Desert via Swakopmund. We had a wonderful guide, Kennedy, who took us from Swakopmund to our camp near Sesriem. He was warm, kind, good-humoured and attentive to the group’s needs. We felt very lucky to have been in such safe hands. The bumpy drive was well worth it as our camp had a magnificent panoramic mountain view, which was perfect to observe the sunset, the Milky Way, and sunrise over the 2 night stay. Our visit to the Sossusvlei region was incredible. We climbed the ‘Big Daddy’ dune and ran down into Dead Vlei with our bare feet sinking into the sand. The views around the vast expanse of the national park and the surrounding area were breathtaking. The visit to the hamlet of Solitaire was very enjoyable. A further highlight was the cheetah conservation reserve. The animals were mere metres away, and it was a great experience to see them tuck into their zebra breakfast! The drive back to Windhoek passed through the Namib-Naukluft park, the home to majestic mountains. The variety of landscapes within this one tour was awe-inspiring, and the experience overall was one we’ll never forget. We can’t thank Kennedy enough for his part in making this such a fantastic trip. Lynsey & Aidan
