Mole National Park
In the morning, your tour guide will pick you up at the airport and take you to the Sognaayilli culture village where you get to see the northern people of Ghana, learn their way of doing things and meet their interesting people. With noon comes a nice lunch at the Wooden restaurant. Afterwards you get to visit the leather and local markets before finally leaving for the main destination of the tour; Mole National Park. When you arrive at the Park after two and a half hours on the road, you'll be given some time to freshen up before the real fun begins. After dinner at 7pm, you will be driven to Mognori eco-village where you'll witness the unique dance steps and music of the people. We call it a day here and drive you back to Mole Motel where you can rest and prepare for the next day.

The second day is fun filled as this is when you begin by taking early walks and drives around the park to see animals like baboons, buffaloes, elephants, warthogs and the numerous species of birds. After this early drive comes breakfast. A visit will once again be paid to Mognori eco-village later in the day where you will get a village guided walk in addition to a canoe safari. When you return to the motel by 1pm, you'll be treated to a nice lunch and a relaxing time at the pool. A Jeep drive safari comes next at about 3:15pm after which you get to watch the captivating sunset from the viewpoint of the Mole Motel. Dinner is once again served by 7pm.

Wechiau Community Hippo Sanctuary
A visit will be paid to Wechiau Hippo Sanctuary on this day. Wechiau is one of the best parks in the country and the only one where hippos can be found in all of Ghana. In addition to seeing these hippos, you'll get to see some more wildlife. You will spend the night back at Mole Motel.
Larabanga Mosque
Breakfast comes quite late this morning as you will be given some time to pack you bags in preparation for departure. On your way to Tamale, you will make a stop to see the oldest mosque in all of West Africa, Laribanga mosque. It was built in the year 1421 and still stands till today. On arrival at Tamale, you will be treated to a delicious lunch at wooden restaurant after which you'll be taken back to the airport for your departure.

Amazing and unforgettable experience! From my airport pick-up to drop-off on my last day, Emmanuel was nothing but helpful and a wonderful guide. He truly knows the ins and outs of the region and the park- there was someone stopping to say hello to him everywhere we went- so you really get the best experience and treatment when people know he is your guide. There were some hiccups with my tour regarding the hotel booking and the hippo excursion (which we ended up not being able to do), but Emmanuel was very upfront about this and provided alternative options. I also met Isaac, another guide, and he also seemed very knowledgeable and accommodating. The activities beyond the safari were also great- I especially liked the art gallery at the red clay factory, which I wouldn’t have known about otherwise.

Isaac was incredible! We could not have been happier with any tour guide! He is very kind and extremely knowledgeable about the places, culture, history, wildlife, and anything else we could have asked. I don’t usually opt to take guided tours as I like to explore on my own, but I am immensely glad I ended up on a tour with Isaac, and we explored a lot! I would not have had such a great time without him and his knowledge. He was very communicative not only with us, but also with the other people in charge of parts of our tour (at the hippo sanctuary, at the village we visited, at the leather making spot, and everywhere else). Additionally, he went on the Safaris in Mole National Park with us, and though I assume the Park Rangers were knowledgeable and did point loads of wildlife out, Isaac was still the one answering all of our extensive questions (he clearly knew the answer to them all!!). Additionally, he was very good at spotting wildlife, and I was specifically impressed by his knowledge of birds in the park. Isaac was also always punctual. He was right there waiting for us at the airport, and drove us to the Hippo sanctuary very early in the morning. I also always felt safe with him driving! He is an expert! He worked in additional experiences along the way as well including stopping to try cashew fruits, bringing us Baobab fruit juice, an other things. He also facilitated a lot of the money transactions so if we ever weren’t sure of the price/how to pay/how much to tip/or how to barges at the souvenir stores, he was very helpful. I could not recommend touring with Isaac more.

From the start of our tour (beginning with booking) to the end of the tour (flight departure) our tour guide, Isaac, was reliable, professional, and communicative. We spent four full days with him and never stopped leading us on amazing adventures. Things not listed on the tour included visiting a tannery - the oldest mosque in West Africa - souvenir shopping - and more. Everything was pre-arranged with thoughtful timing and excellent guides at each of our stops. It was clear that Isaac was always planning two steps before we got to a place and when we arrived to each place it was clear that he was respected by the community. In addition, Isaac took care of things while at Mole confirming meal orders and checked on my health when I fell a bit ill from previous travels. It was clear that he cared for us- truly! Isaac made our time in the area at Mole, Tamale, the Hippo Sanctuary, and the various villages we visited well worth the flight from Accra!

Amazing tour! Our guide Emanuel was awesome! Very knowledgeable and excited to show us Mole Park and the surrounding areas. Everything was as described in the tour package and everyone was very professional. It was easy to add additional safari tours and to make adjustments along the way. Grassroots and Emanuel are fantastic. I can't recommend them enough.

This was the highlight of my friends and my 2 week trip to Ghana. Everything was excellent beginning with the communication beforehand. Our guide Emmanuel was exceptional. He had grown up in the park and was a ranger/guide in the park prior to operating tours so each safari we went on had the ranger/guide and Emmanuel so nothing was missed. We were able to get up close with elephants and really experience the awe the inspire. We chose the lesser expensive Mole lodge to stay at which was fine for us, the food was great, the pool over looking the watering hole was great. I will warn you (as they warned us) that the ride to the Hippo area was long and on poor roads, but that was a wonderful experience as well. Really, really can't say enough! Thanks

This tour has been a unforgettable adventure. It gives a short glance of the beautiful landscape and culture of northern Ghana. Our guides have been extremely nice and helpful. We felt secure throughout the whole trip and can recommend doing a tour with the grassroot team.

My brother and I went to Mole with our guide Isaac, who exceeded ALL of our expectations! He accepted to take us on a tour the evening before we would have landed in Tamale (due to our las tribute planning). We were able to make the best of our time there seeing many different birds, elephants almost every day, lots of antelopes, hippos and crocodiles. If you feel like going on a tour into the beautiful nature Ghana has to offer and making a new friend along the way, then Isaac is your guy :) Thanks for everything Isaac!!

Isaac made the 4 days at Mole National Park into a dream vacation. Anything we needed he was happy to accommodate and always with a smile. We had some issues with the hotel we stayed at, but Isaac was on top of the problem within minutes and we came to a great resolution. Isaac is incredibly knowledgeable of the area and took us to see some local villages and meet the people. We saw elephants, baboons, warthogs, Nile crocodiles, many different types of antelope and innumerable birds. I would highly recommend the Hippo sanctuary tour (though it is a whole day trip from Mole, about 6 hours of driving total). Isaac made sure we had a fabulous time anywhere we were. I highly recommend asking for Isaac if you are taking a tour with Grassroute Tours, we could not have asked for a better person to lead us into the unknown.
