Join us on a stunning 4-hour journey from Ísafjörður to one of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls — Dynjandi. This tour offers incredible scenic drives through the heart of the Westfjords, with a strong chance of spotting seals lounging on the shores and seabirds soaring above. Keep an eye out — humpback whales have even been seen along this route! We’ll make several photo stops at breathtaking coastal viewpoints that are local favorites. On our return, we’ll stop in one of the charming villages like Þingeyri, Flateyri, or Hrafnseyri — depending on timing and group preference — to soak in a bit of local flavor. This is the perfect tour for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone looking for a relaxed yet unforgettable Westfjords experience.

Isafjordur
Framed by steep mountains and wrapped around a quiet harbor, Ísafjörður is the cultural and economic hub of the Westfjords — and your starting point for today’s journey. Though small in size, this historic fishing town carries a big personality. Colorful 19th-century houses still line the old streets, and the harbor bustles with life, from working boats to adventurous kayakers. As we pass through town, you’ll get a glimpse of daily life here in Iceland’s most remote region — where modern life blends effortlessly with old traditions. If time allows, we may swing past landmarks like the old hospital-turned-cultural-center or the Maritime Museum housed in one of the oldest buildings in Iceland. Ísafjörður is more than just a gateway to nature — it’s a living community with deep roots in fishing, folklore, and resilience. From here, we’ll head into the fjords for a taste of Iceland’s wild, untouched beauty.
Dynjandi (Fjallfoss)
Rising like a shimmering bridal veil from the cliffs of Arnarfjörður, Dynjandi is not just a waterfall — it’s a full-body experience. The name means “thundering,” and you’ll understand why as soon as you step out of the vehicle and hear its roar echo through the canyon. At 100 meters tall, with a wide, tiered cascade that narrows elegantly as it climbs, Dynjandi is often called the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland — and for good reason. A short path leads from the parking area up toward the base of the falls, passing several smaller waterfalls along the way. Guests are welcome to hike as far as they like, or simply admire the view from below, where the mist dances in the sunlight and seabirds wheel overhead. Surrounded by dramatic fjord scenery, this is one of those places that stops time. Whether you’re snapping photos, soaking in the power of nature, or just breathing the clean mountain air, Dynjandi leaves a lasting impression long after the tour ends.

We were picked up promptly on a comfortable van. Stefan did a great job driving and telling us about the locations. Of course the highlight is the amazing Dynjandi waterfall.

Highly recommend Valkyrie tours. A small group tour is the way to go. Jake was a wonderful guide. Communication about meeting point and time was easy to follow. He was very informative and managed our time perfectly. We had a wonderful day.

The booking site is real and reliable. I have always been wary of such online bookings. The tour operators are honest, on time and knowledgeable. Stefán, our guide through Valkyrie Tours knows the terrain and was very professional. We were on a 15 day cruise to Iceland and Canada We had booked other excursions through the cruise ship and this was a last minute booking to fill an empty morning slot in Isafjordoor and it turned out to be the most valuable and exciting excursion of our cruise. We were absolutely on time and no false promises were given. We returned on time for our afternoon commitment after a memorable and highly satisfying experience. It was lovely. We visited all the four sites promised and met other cruisers from other cruise ships with similar experiences. Thank you very much Stefán!

This was an excellent tour. As it worked out, Jake the own was our guide and he is a delight. Because it was just my wife and I he was able to taylor the day to what he discerned we were interested in. It was a great four hours which gave us some insight into Icelandic life.

Jake, the owner of Valkyrie Tours was an exceptional tour guide. He was very knowledgeable. He not only knew information and history about the local area, but also knew the type of birds. He made some stops on side roads that you would never get on a larger tour. We had eight people on our tour. The tour will accommodate sixteen people. I would definitely request that Viator book your tour with Valkyrie Tours.
