The trip out into the Everglades was fun. Captain Steve was on site waiting for us even though we got there early. It was a small group of only two couples but the swamp buggy will only sit 6 so it will never be crowded. We saw plenty of gators and actually traversed on foot some of the "swamp". The best part was listening to Capt Steve's stories. That made the trip. Go if you get the chance.

Had a fun time with Capt Daniel he is very knowledgeable about the Everglades, His stories about growing up there his whole life were very entertaining, it was very dry during our trip so we didn't see a lot of wildlife but everything is so beautiful.

We had an excellent tour with Captain Steve in the new year's period. Weather was perfect - bright, sunny, and pleasant, with cool temperatures in the evening. (If you're planning a trip that goes past sunset, bring plenty of warm clothing.) Steve is from a multi-generational Everglades family, and knows the Big Cypress Swamp well. You may or may not see wildlife, but being Florida, you probably will. I'd recommend going if you're interested in getting really off the beaten path - the only other ways into the swamp are on foot, bike, or a "side-by-side" all terrain vehicle. Road legal cars are not permitted in the 720,000 odd acres. The beauty of the experience is that it slow: you proceed at approximately walking speed, on dry land, and through water that can be knee (or more) deep. The buggy itself is a marvelous machine, with agricultural tyres, an engine and tranmission from Toyota, and seats from a van. It's comfortable, and the windowless design makes for a whole day in the fresh air. Steve is a good conversationalist, and enriches the experience with his knowledge of the local history.

Our guide made the trip very enjoyable, and more important, elaborated on many of the challenges the everglades is facing from climate, development, encroachment, and overpopulation from both local and invasive species. Definitely a worthwhile experience.

My son found this wonderful activity and showed us a You Tube video of Capt. Steve and after watching that, there was no way we’d miss it! My husband, son and I went today and had a great time with Captain Daniels! winter is probably not the best time to see the Everglades because the swamp waters have receded and most of the Cypress trees are bare, but there was so much to learn about the different ecosystems. Even more fun was learning about this family that was born and raised in the Everglades, right alongside the Seminole tribe. So many cool stories! We highly recommend this off-the-beaten path gem! Thanks, Captain Daniels!
