Acropolis
Sightseeing in Athens starts with the hill of Acropolis which will make your day. On the historical hill, you will have the opportunity to see the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Temple of the Athena Nike, the monumental gateway (Propylaea), the Erechtheum and of course the famous Parthenon, the main temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Athena.
Propylaea
The Propylaea is the monumental entrances to the sacred area dedicated to Athena, the patron goddess of the city. Built by the architect Mnesicles with Pentelic marble, their design was avant-garde. To the south-west of the Propylaea, on a rampart protecting the main entrance to the Acropolis, is the Ionian temple of Apteros Nike.

5.00Know this is a self tour of Acropolis with explanation by the guide before we toured. We also saw the Olympic Stadium from outside the entrance. Great viewing of changing of the guard outside the Presidential Mansion, with the guide pointing out perfect location.

5.00We had a wonderful half day tour with highlights of Athens and the Acroplois! Our tour guide Georgia was amazing giving us so much background and history! Our driver Yanos was terrific, as well. We would highly recommend this to others to marvel about the beauty and history of Athens. Parthenon and Acroplois were spectacular!! So grateful for this incredible excursion!!

5.00Our private tour with Manos was great. He is very gregarious and funny. He is passionate about Greek culture and history and made a special effort to share places outside the normal tourist spots in addition to all the normal highlights on an Athens city tour. Ex: a scenic view of Athens where romantic Greek men like to make their marriage proposal and a great spot to watch the changing of the guards without the crowds. He also recommended a lively traverna filled with locals where we enjoyed a delicious dinner that evening. Spend time with Manos and you will be enchanted with Athens.
We got to see a lot in a very short amount of time with a very pleasant knowledgeable driver.
