5.00The Woodpecker Reserve is an excellent place for hiking and birdwatching and is (very) well managed. Thanks to our excellent guide, we saw many birds (approx 30), with the Laughing Falcon being my favorite. The Reserve is only a few miles from Santa Elena by car on good roads. The paths at the Reserve require only moderate hiking, and there is a bird-watching tower. DInia helped with our reservation and readily accommodated our uncertain arrival time since we were driving in from the beaches past Liberia. We accepted her offer to provide a guide for the afternoon at Monteverde Cloud Forest, so we were very well taken care of for the day. Our guide knew everyone at the Cloud Forest so well that we parked only a few feet from the entrance. We didn't spot a quetzal, as hoped, but we were guided to see a green eyelash pit viper at the edge of a path that probably several hundred visitors used that day (without spotting the snake). Overall, we highly recommend a visit to Woodpecker Reserve.

5.00An amazing birdwatching experience fit for a passionate birder like myself. This tour had everything. An experienced guide named Donald Torres who help me identify around 40 bird species in 3 hours. During the tour we were served coffee and empanadas as a complementary gift. This property is unique due to its size. It has one of the best lookout points in all of Monteverde. The open spaces are perfect for good photography. The highlight of the trip was being able to hear the elusive manakin bird! Loved the experience and will bring my family back!

5.00We did a tour of Monteverde Cloud Forest with Donal Torres as our guide. This 3 hour tour was extremely informative and Donald helped us spot several species of birds, monkeys, frogs and butterflies. Donald is very knowledgeable tour guide for cloud forest. He shared a lot of details that made the tour interesting!!

5.00Donald is a special person—with a lot of talent, a lot of intelligence, and a lot of enthusiasm. We spent three hours in Monteverde with him, and we would have lost a lot without his presence. He has a lot of wisdom about animals and plants, including environmental issues. We will never forget our experience with him!!
