The Marangu route, also known as the “Coca-Cola” route, is the oldest, most well established route on Kilimanjaro.

This is the only route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory style accommodations in lieu of camping. There are 60 bunk beds each at Mandara and Kibo Huts, and 120 bunk beds at Horombo Hut. Guests are supplied with mattresses and pillows, but sleeping bags are still required. The huts have communal dining halls and basic washrooms, ranging from flushing toilets and running water at the lower huts to long drop toilets and buckets of water at Kibo Hut.

Many favor Marangu because it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, given its gradual slope and direct path. However the short time frame of the route makes altitude acclimatization fairly difficult. The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the southeast. Marangu is unfortunately less scenic than the other routes because the ascent and descent are along the same path.

From here on your remaining 1 hour ascent to Uhuru Peak, you are likely to encounter snow all the way. Kilimanjaro changed me forever. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was not just a journey to the top of Africa, it was a journey within myself. Every step was a test of patience, strength, and belief. There were moments of exhaustion, doubt, and silence—but also moments of deep joy, laughter, and hope. The support from the guides made all the difference. Their words, care, and constant encouragement carried me forward when my body felt weak. On summit night, under the stars and freezing cold, I learned what true determination really means. Standing on Uhuru Peak, watching the sunrise above the clouds, I felt overwhelmed with emotion—gratitude, pride, and pure happiness. It was a reminder that with the right support and courage, anything is possible. This was more than a climb. It was a life-changing experience I will carry in my heart forever. Please Remember to choose a good company ( IM ADVENTURE TANZANIA ) — Fynn 🏔️❤️

I absolutely loved the 5-day Mt. Kilimanjaro climb in November 2023! It was a real challenge, but the stunning views and the feeling of achievement at each stage made it worth it. Our guide was fantastic—knowledgeable and ensured we had a safe and enjoyable journey. Kilimanjaro's beauty is truly something else. This climb is a must-do if you're up for a life-changing adventure!
