On this trip, you will visit one of the largest inland wetlands in the world, the Pantanal. The wetland area is a nature reserve full of many different types of species, impressive flora, and fauna, as well as numerous rivers and freshwater lakes. On the excursions by jeep, by boat, on foot, and horseback, we will have the opportunity to explore this unique environment while seeing various animals. If lucky, we could see caimans, jaguars, monkeys, anteaters, tapirs, exotic birds, etc.
We will also visit Bonito, selected 16 times as the best destination in Brazil for Eco-Tourism, where you will see the fantastic underwater world while snorkeling in the 3rd clearest river in the world, hike to the 156m waterfall, called Boca da Onça (mouth of the Jaguar), and snorkel deep inside the Gruta Mimoso Cave.
Our local operating staff has been working with tourism in the area since 1992.

Our Guide and driver will be waiting for you at the International Airport in Campo Grande (CGR) holding a sign with your name on it. After boarding our comfortable veiculo we will start the approx. 3:30hrs drive to San Francisco or Aguapé, in Pantanal; the largest swamp area in the world and a great jungle area full of impressive animals living in the wild.

You will arrive to the lodge, check-in and please ask for the exact tour program planned. Note: the exact tour sequence is decided based on the weather forecast. After the included dinner at the Pousada there will be a Night Safari Tour. Sleep well your first night in Pantanal.

You leave the lode in Pantanal early, 5am, to arrive at Boca da Onça at 8:30. The tour starts with a 4km hike through the pristine forest, passing by more than ten crystal-clear waterfalls, the scenic Salobra River and natural pools. Halfway on the tour circuit there´s a Kiosk selling snacks and drinks, wit bathrooms. The highlight is the indescribable Boca da Onça Waterfall, with its height of 156 meters (512 ft). After relaxing and gazing at the Boca da Onça Waterfall in a special wooden deck right in front of it, it´s time to continue, making the way back by climbing 866 steps that meander up the rocky wall that leads to the end of the tour, offering many resting points to observe the breathtaking views of the Salobra River Canyon. Difficulty: Moderate Distance: 60 km If somebody in your party does not want to do the hike he/she can stay at the main house below where you find changing rooms, huge natural pool, hammocks, great views, and some wild life.

Gruta Catedral
After breakfast we head to Gruta Mimoso for a Snorkeling Tour. Right after getting the wetsuits on, you will start a 300 mts walk, meeting the instructors to receive all necessary orientation about the activity, providing all the training and information that will allow visitors to enhance their experienced. Right after this brief training visitors will walk down a 78 steps stairway (the stairway length changes according to the level of the water inside the cave), to reach the inner part of the cave to finally start the snorkeling, and be amazed by the underwater beauty of the geological limestone formations. Approx. 1h40min duration.
In the afternoon: Barra do Sucuri snorkeling. We will be met at the Main House to try and test the necessary gear and then start a 400 meters light hike up to the river where the tour starts. At the river you will help paddle the boat 1.300 meters up river while enjoying all the beauty of the gallery forest and the transparency of the river from the boat. At the end of this ride you will then put on your masks and snorkels, jump out of the boat and finally see all the beauty of one of the most transparent rivers in the world. After the end of the tour back at the main house you can relax at the hammocks or at the Formoso River that is just a few steps from the house. Free night.

5.00Pretty is really pretty. We really liked the nautical activities. Pantanal was a childhood dream and we were amazed with the animals, we came with a full heart. Tavi was always very present and attentive.

5.00We did Pantanal and Amazon with Rio Love Story and it was fantastic. Wonderful guides and great experience overall. We saw a ton of animals in the Pantanal. In the Amazon it's harder to see animals but we saw dolphins and lot of flora. It eas totally worth booking through Rio Love Story because when we ran into a flight delay and missed our ride, the lodge wanted us to stay in Manaus an extra day but Tavi convinced them to come pick us up.

5.00Everything (accomodation, tours) was very well organized and communication was smooth and timely. The guide was amazing - knowledgeable, flexible, supportive and helpful, we became good friends :) The driver was punctual and always came on time or even earlier. The lodges were comfortable with beautiful atmosphere. Unfortunately the weather was extremely hot without a drop of rain despite the rainy season, but on the other hand mosquitos did not bother much either. The wildlife was sparce, we did not even see capybaras (except once during the night safari). But there were many caimans. We also saw a lot of birds. On the last day we stopped in a city park in Campo Grande and there we finally saw a lot of capybaras. A night safari at the lodge is a drive from 7pm for about an hour, with flashlights. I arranged a morning safari for an additional cost, from 5 until about 6:30 where we saw anteaters. In general, the activities are not well suited for photographers because all are in groups and there is almost no opportunity to stop on the way. It's good to have somebody who speaks Portuguese because very few people know English. If you go snorkelling on Sucuri river or the cave, make sure not to put any cosmetics (eg sun cream), because it is not allowed. Overall I had a great time in Pantanal and Bonito.

5.00We cannot recommend Rio Love Story / Tavi enough! We reached out to Tavi a few months ago and ever since he was incredibly helpful in organising the exact trip we wanted. He provided great advice and lots of different options with tonnes of info to answer all our questions. It was all so easy to book and the trip went off without any issues whatsoever. Tavi planned everything perfectly and checked in on us throughout to make sure we were enjoying and things were going to plan. Can't thank him enough! Our trip - we spent 3 nights in the Pantanal and then 3 nights in the Amazon. Both were amazing! The Pantanal is one of the coolest places on earth! We saw 7 jaguars in 2 days and hundreds of other animals! Alan was our guide here and he was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate about all the wildlife and nature. This trip was an absolute highlight for us. The Amazon was also extraordinary. So many animals and interesting plants and scenery. Every day was jam packed with tours and activities. We really loved it all!

5.00Do not miss the opportunity to experience the unique landscape and breathtaking beauty of this region of Brazil. Our tour guide, Rogerio, was the most knowledgeable and professional one I have ever had - and I have been a lot of places. He taught us so much about the flora and fauna and all the facts were narrated in compelling story form. Rio Love Story really knows how to show you the best places. Our accommodation was perfectly clean and comfortable at all times. The food completely exceeded my expectations and Tavi and Rogerio took us to some unforgettable restaurants. Safety, security and our health and well-being were clearly a priority for our wonderful hosts. I cannot thank Rio Love Story enough!

5.00We really enjoyed the well organized trip. A good mix of animals in Pantanal and waters in Bonito. The way the fazenda São Fransisco in Pantanal went out of their way to make sure we saw the best of the wildlife was amazing. And we got to see jaguars 🐆, ozelots and ant eaters as well as a selection of the beautiful birds of Pantanal. Bonito was also an extraordinary experience with the fish floating in clear water. I cant wait to order my next trip from the agency Rio Lovestory.

5.00Traveling with Rio Love Story to Pantanal and Bonito was the most wonderful experience! We visited two incredible locations in Brazil with everything taken care of. We had the best tour guide - Rogerio Alves, who speaks beautiful English and was always willing to help us with whatever we needed. He is extremely knowledgeable and taught us so much about the nature and wildlife in Pantanal and of his hometown, Bonito. The pousadas we stayed at were lovely with amazing food and tons of animals, which is exactly what we came for. It was the perfect escape and we only wish we had extended our travels for a few more days. Thanks so much to Tavi who provided us with ongoing information prior to our trip, ensuring we were prepared. Highlights include the Boca da onca waterfalls hike, snorkeling in Barra do Sucuri, the morning and evening safari, piranha fishing next to caymans, and of course, the pousada where we stayed that made us feel right at home with full access to their bar by the pool. Thank you for the memories!

5.00Rio love story took us on an adventure of a life time. It was unforgettable. The wild life in this area is absolutely beautiful. The pousadas really create an environment for all. They were family owned and excellent choices for stay. The tours that Tavi took us on were well planned and he/crew were very knowledgeable about the area. We learned so much. This trip was perfect. Would not change a thing about our trip. We really choose the perfect tour company. Rio Love Story really went out if there way to make sure we had all our needs met. Pantanal/bonito plus Tavi and our guide Rogério will be remembered forever. Pura vida!
