  • The Full Uganda Experience 🇺🇬

My best friend and I booked the 6 day package with Village of Lakes Safari since it fit our time frame and budget. We had spent several weeks looking at several options from different companies but this safari had the Gorilla Trekking, chimpanzee trekking, a boat ride on the Nile, waterfalls, hippos, elephant, lions and much much more. We arrived 2 days prior to our safari trip started and the day we arrived our tour guide Silas drove to Entebee just introduce himself and make us feel comfortable and excited about the safari. The next day he offered to take us to see the Shoebill bird in one of the most beautiful untouched places. Right from the beginning our tour guide Silas, was informative, dependable, pleasant to be around, patient, kind, funny and knew his homeland well. Whenever we checked into our accommodations Silas always checked the room and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. I definitely felt safe and well taken care of during my trip. He treated us like family and even after our safari he continued to visit every day at our hotel to see if we wanted to explore more of Uganda. We were so happy with the organization, all the hotel/bungalows staff, the food experiences, and that we had confident driver to get us through the beautiful mountains of Uganda in any weather. I would highly recommend this company for any who wants a real, safe, fun African experience this company is one you can can guarantee a wonderful, unforgettable life changing experience. We were so happy that we decided to do the 6 day package instead of 2 or 3. The 6 days allowed us to see more animals and actually get rest in between all the site seeing. It was definitely worth the money and since we arrived early and left 4 days later our guide Silas never left our side. It was so nice to have someone you could trust and rely when visiting another country. My best and I were so grateful to have found such a great company with a great guide and someone we even call as a close friend 🇺🇬

Our family trip to Uganda was the trip of a lifetime. On safari we saw giraffes, elephants, lions, hippos, rhinos, leopards, zebras, chimpanzees, baboons, silver backed gorillas, and birds with incredible plumage. A highlight for me was the gorilla trek into Bwindi, which was made much easier with the kind aid of several young porters. Another highlight was our mind blowing trip down the Nile, where we saw crocodiles, more hippos, tons of exotic birds, as well as stunning scenery, which culminated at Murchison Falls. Our guides, Silas, Davis, and Isaac were polite, kind, and very knowledgable. Although sometimes out of my comfort zone, I always felt safe. Food and accommodations were fabulous. The trip was absolutely unforgettable and I highly recommend!

This trip was truly incredible. From the moment Silas picked us up in Entebbe we were in good hands. The hotels and lodges were beautiful, with friendly service and great food. Silas, Davis and the whole staff were very knowledgeable about the country's history, animals and birds and clearly knew their way around. Our time in Bwindi was magical. After some hiking through the dense forest, we were able to locate and visit with a family of Mountain Gorillas. There was a mother nursing a two week old baby and a huge Silverback. They were calm and comfortable in our presence. Although the hiking wasn't too strenuous because we moved slowly, I definitely recommend hiring a porter. This helps the local economy and provides an opportunity to get to know someone who lives in that magical corner of Uganda. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of the most beautiful places we visited. The rolling hills interspersed with fields of tea will linger in your memory. The roads in Bwindi are...bumpy doesn't quite say it. One of our porters referred to them as "African Massage Roads", which I found hilarious. But the vehicles we traveled in were comfortable and spacious, so once we got used to the jostling, it just became another part of a truly wonderful and unique experience. We were fortunate enough to see all of the animals we had hoped for. From Leopards on a night safari, to Giraffes, Elephants, Hippos and Rhinos. One night at Mweya Lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park, I was being escorted by the staff back to my hotel room when two lions walked around a corner. This is apparently a common experience (and the reason they escort you to and from your room after dark). It was very cool. Hippos and Mongoose also roam the grounds. The mongoose like to gather in an enormous pile. It is quite a sight. This trip was just about the most amazing thing I have ever done. Before going, I was nervous about everything from safety to animals and malaria, but during the entire trip I always felt like our guides had good knowledge and control of the situation. I was expecting tons of mosquitos, and saw very few. The climate was actually quite a bit cooler than back home in July! I highly recommend this experience. Uganda is an amazing country, and Silas is a great guide. I hope to come back again someday!

We enjoyed our time with Silas and the tour of Uganda including the animals and places we saw. He can be quite charming and talkative with lots of stories. He was very responsive at the start. We had to make all the payments in advance, quite nervously, but that part worked out. There seemed to be a cash flow problem, and it was too late at that later stage to change things. The Land Cruiser we went around rattled and groaned along the rutted roads and was quite messy inside. The places we stayed in were fine and clean, though some were far in the interior and took long to get to on the rutted roads. We were keen to see the gorillas, tree lions, and chimps, and he fulfilled that though we were unlucky with rain. Silas can be forgetful as we wanted to pick up a few things on our way out of the country that he conveniently forgot. Uganda is truly beautiful, and we enjoyed the drives along the forests and through the parks. Silas was great at picking us up at the airport and seeing us off on the last day. I don’t think he says “no” to anything and is eager to grow his business.

This was absolutely one of the best trips I have ever taken! As soon as I booked, Silas was prompt in reaching out and confirming my interests so that he could further tailor & personalize my itinerary. When I shared that my highest priorities were all the animal experiences and really wanted to do rhino trekking, he was able to update my itinerary to incorporate this amazing experience at a reasonable add-on cost. We also discussed the possibility of seeing some additional sites in Kampala upon our return, and again, he was able to curate this experience. Silas is truly concerned with ensuring that you have the trip of YOUR dreams, and because he is so knowledgeable & experienced, and has established great relationships, he is able to actually make sure it happens. He was an excellent guide throughout Queen Elizabeth National Park, and he personally selected the excellent guides who led me on my rhino, gorilla, & chimp trekking - everything was such an amazing experience! I know they say nothing is guaranteed with nature, but it certainly felt like things were so perfectly arranged that it did allow for that guarantee to happen! Last, but certainly not least, after long (yet fulfilling) adventurous days, the perfect ending is a great meal & somewhere comfortable to lay your head, and the arranged accommodations certainly fit the bill :-) All around, this was 5-star experience and I would highly recommend!

We had a fantastic time with Silas on our 6 days safari, he planned it so well since we wanted a flying safari he was very keen to our needs. The pick up at the airport and flight Bwindi was good with wonderful green tropical landscapes wow, and the accommodation we were astonished and very pleased for the friendly staffs that were with us all the time. We tracked the gorillas, chimpanzees in kibale forest which were out on top of to do list, the wildlife in queen Elizabeth national park was impressive we liked how the guides really communicate with each other to see what others haven't seen. It was amazing Silas thank you and keep it up. Highly recommended guide and driver.

I really don't have much words to express my happiness for the 6 days I had in Uganda. Silas was just amazing and on time to for every activity, booked good lodges for me as a Solo traveler, being around Silas was just fun, social and entertaining to learn so much about his country and his village where we spent more time in queen Elizabeth national park for after the gorillas I wanted more time to explore the crater lakes and hike more in the domestic and cultural setting which I enjoyed so much with Silas and the community guides like Angel who took me for the Batwa visit after tracking gorillas wow. Thank and thank you once again I made a friend in Uganda Silas and village of lakes safaris are highly recommended

Amazing trip, we booked Silas just for the gorilla trekking. But ended up with a two and half week trip. Driving ourselves or with public transport we would never have been able to do the same in this amount of time. We boosted from lake bunyoni, to Bwindi, Rwenzori ( which is amazing and highly recommended) chimp tracking, boat safari in murchison, Kidepo and ended with rafting in Jinja. Silas helps with finding suitable accommodations and places to eat and occasionally very good party places. You have to watch out for his friend Edward with the pink bubble wine, because they party real hard. Altogether is Silas really capable in providing in the trip you want. So we were really happy we were able to travel this way.
