  • Amazing Solo Adventure with a small group

    743jeank,,Oct 15, 2025

    - Review from Tripadvisor

I traveled to Ireland, Solo, from 27 Aug - 2 Sep 2025. I don't think I wiped the smile from my face for six days! After traveling 24 hours to get to Dublin, I took a taxi from the Airport to the meeting place and meet the warmest, kindest man, Hugh, our tour guide. I was so excited and the adrenaline kept me going most of the day. My travel journal is filled, daily, with the history, facts and folklore Hugh shared with us along our journey. The coach we rode in was clean, comfortable and had plenty of space for our group of 11. EVERY accommodation we stayed in was amazing! EVERY host was spectacular, EVERY town we travelled through, and the people we met were happy to see us! I loved the intimate side of this tour, being in a small group. Each couple had done different research on what they were hoping to see and do. I loved the flexibility of seeing different sights. As we approached each new town, Hugh drove us through, pointing out great places to eat, drink, listen to music, local artisans, and places to purchase items we had mentioned earlier. Everyday was my favorite! My travel journal is full and took over 1,000 pictures! Every couple I was with was kind, welcoming and inclusive. I felt completely safe in every town being by myself, in every pub I went in and every restaurant I ate at. Locals were just as interested in me and my life as I was of them and their lives. AND I loved the weather and the rain...it was an amazing first visit to Ireland. On my last day, Hugh made sure to catch me on the bus before I headed back to Dublin - I was really touched by that, teared up a bit on the bus. Thank you to Hugh and my 10 other travel buddies for making this experience "magical" for me. Before my tour was over, I already made the determination that I would be back.

David was our guide and he was amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to point out and show us things in Ireland that we never would have known or seen if we tried to tour on our own. He did a great job of keeping us on track with our agenda and was flexible when we wanted to make small changes. I would recommend Overland Ireland to anyone who wants to sit back and relax and have a guide take you around to see the country.

  • Amazing Tour with Overland Ireland

Our 6-day Overland Ireland tour was the best we've ever taken. It was the perfect mix of group tours, private experiences, and individual family downtime. I especially appreciated those activities where we connected with local people and culture, which you would not get with a larger group. Our favorite part of the trip was our guide, Mark. His personal warmth, combined with his extensive knowledge of the local area and history and witty anecdotes, is the main reason why this tour was so amazing. We've already discussed another vacation to take one of their other tours, hopefullywith Mark as our guide.

  • A great August tour of Southern Ireland with Dave

What a wonderful tour of Southern Ireland we had with Dave and seven other travelers. I was traveling with my young adult son, who also enjoyed the tour immensely. The days were well planned, with a variety of interesting destinations. We visited cute villages, castles, country estates, a farm, historic sites, a monastery, and more. The best ones were where we had local guides. The days were well planned and nicely broken up, so we were never in the bus for too long. Dave was a wonderful guide and an excellent driver. He was on top of everything and shared a lot of very interesting information about the country, its history, the culture, the places we visited-- with recommendations on what to see and do. He is warm and friendly, a very clear communicator, and he has a great sense of humor.

We had a great week with Hugh O’Reilly as our guide. We enjoyed seeing classic historic sites and grand vistas — and even visiting a 5-generation farm, wading in Dingle Bay and sharing a picnic table with an Irish family in a small town. Hugh offered history and cultural tidbits during our rides and suggestions for each stop. We had free time to explore towns for dinner, with amazing seafood choices. He even made quick stops for individual photos connected to individual family history. We especially enjoyed our 14 fellow travelers. Our group came from across the US and Switzerland, including folks who grew up in England and Iceland. We chatted, laughed and sang, and cheered on Kerry GAA with locals.

Our driver and guide Hugh did an amazing job showing us what Ireland has to offer. The tour was a perfect mix of historical insights, light-hearted jokes, and breathtaking scenery. Hugh’s storytelling made the journey both educational and entertaining. We were able to experience many incredible places in a short amount of time. Dingle was definitely my favorite stop!
